Why do Harley riders wear vests and Johnny Rebs?

Simple answer ,was said above ,because it is just what is predominantly worn on those bikes.

Same with those German helmets ,you wouldnt see many japo riders wearing one of them ,but 90% of HD riders do .it is what it is i guess.

Mind you ive seen a growing amount of riders on triumph speed triples wearning vests and a german helmet ...

me personally ,well i wouldn't wear pink leathers on a yellow bike .... put it that way

yea see alot of the triumph speed four riders around in "trademark" Harley gear ,even with the "Half helmet" ,it doesnt look out of place .

but in relation to the thread ,their is no different clothing guidelines for "sport riders " and "cruisers" just a cultural identity type thing that everyone who rides Harley davidson bikes ,rides them for in the first place ,so the clothing style comes with it

Wll, I will admit to being completely out of the loop when it comes to biker fashion, Generally I ride alone or just with one or two others, and I haven't been into a dealership for many years so I have no idea what the people are wearing.

But I know a lot of people that ride, and I see a lot of bikes on the road, But I almost never see a German helmet...

Well be it German helmet or half face they are both the same thing in reality .

and i guess it would depend on where ya ride and who with.

me personally ,i ride on a daily basis all year round ,and generally see a larger amount of harley riders with half face helmets then full face to be honest. catches my eye especially in the winter months when my teeth are jittering from the chill coming inside the vents and some guys just have a scaff covering their face.

Dont have a vest, but do own a genuine WW2 SS helmet.
Might give it a go on my Speed Triple eh?
