    Sweet, cheers this could come in a winner for me, I really hate having the back still as a ongoing repair, I just want to get out and do some test riding.

    I remember most of the aforementioned shops even though I was a wee nipper with regards to some of them. Cool to drag out some of those names from the memory banks.

    Found a old post of mine about Hamptons.

    Read the last line.
    From what I have heard, they have not sold one new Guzzi.
    In saying that I think Rocky bought his of them or did he buy it from Thunder Bikes?

    Norjo Motors - down Colombo Street around from Kilmore - got two bikes from there (that was 25 yrs ago!). Spags Pizza was on the Kilmore Colombo corner.

    I remember that oily floor and ramp - unsure who though I think I was pretty young.

    Hamptons eh. They had BMW years ago (got it off Norjos). Honda cars (imports) for years. Now sell European car imports, Guzzi.

    Bikes have not been big for them (yet). They will do OK there with the rural crowd. But to me if you want to launch a street bike brand in CHCH hit Manchester Street - or bloody close. Man it hums on a Saturday morning. Bikes everywhere.

    Good luck to them I say - I might pop in there on the Hornet for a visit one weekend soon.

    They keeping Guzzi? Who's picking up Aprilia?

    WTF??? think you've got Norjo's confused with someone else;
    70s to mid 80s they were at the Clyde Rd lights on Riccarton Rd, from there they went to the corner of Clarence St & Blenheim Rd after that they moved to just by the entrance of Wigram airbase and from there to where they are at present.

    Hampton's European were Hornby Honda then Hornby Yamaha then included the BMW dealership and progressed to being Hampton motorcourt and presently Hampton European, started in the Branston Buildings where the Pizzahut outlet is now then moved around the corner (where the clothing outlet store is) then moved to their present site.

    Nope I'm not wrong re Norjos. I purchased a Z440 in 81 from their shop in Colombo St and opened the crate with them on my new Z750 twin in 1983 ($3999) - same location. I remember oh oh oh over the Z1000 (blue silver square tank one - J model I think) in there as well.

    The shop was small and to get to the workshop you rode down a very narrow drive (more like a hall!) between the showroom and next store.

    Somewhere in one of my draws is the purchase agreement for the 750.

    Went from there to Ric road shortly after 83 as most of the 750's servicing was done in Riccarton.

    True story.
