    Comfort=safety yes/no??

Not making a statement of FACT here just tossing this open for discussion.
I believe being comfortable on your bike and in your gear adds to your safety.
Examples being -A comfortable jacket,Quiet helmet. well positioned controls, mirrors etc.
Hard to quantify but I think it can be the difference between a minor irritation and a OH SHIT moment on the road/track
    Waddaya reckon??

I've yet to discover the comfort button on my bike. However, I always feel safe on it.

    Sure you are right.
By taking care of everything within your control you are free to focus on those things that are not within your control.

If you are distracted say by the cold, wet squishy feet or if you are thinking about the low fuel situation, wondering if you will make the next fuel stop, you are not fully focused the things you can't control such as the road surface, traffic etc.

    Exactly!

Surely theres a difference between riding in a pair of undies and riding in a full gear....

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

That's why I got a sports touring husband ...yes, you can have your cake and eat it too *then run several miles to get rid of the effect on your arse...but that's a different story*

To answer your question though Frosty. I'm a firm believer that better the comfort, the safer the rider.

When my thumb got so seriously cold I couldn't indicate anymore (ride down to the Cold Duck last year), I installed heated grips on just before the Cold Kiwi: No more problems!

And this is also why as much as I'd love to be riding a GSXR of sort, it would be unrealistic for me in relation to the type of riding I do (aka: long distances).

Its the motorcycle motto - if your in the right frame of mind it all seems to work.
If that means that you have a nice helmet, and gear......you will find its makes everything safer as you stress less.

On a long trip if feeling uncomfortable i start pulling wheelies or speed up etc, takes your mind off it,i have really good gear etc but sooner or later after a few hours things start to get a tad sore (probably age related methinks)

So what happened to old age and wisdom?

Albeit, not so comfortable you'll fall asleep...
