Congratulations on your choice of bike. Now you can have fun dressing it up. First thing I did was bought me a Remus Power cone can. Looks and sounds awesome.
I chose Oxford soft luggage over the factory stuff. At the time I purchased my Tiger in Feb 07 Triumph dealer wanted $2500 for the stuff. I got rid of those Texas styled long horn handlebars, and I bought some Rizoma bars from a guy in the states. Cost me another $100.
Then I saw some Pazzo race Clutch & Brake levers on e-Bay. So I paid $90 our money delivered (a bargain as they are like new) I found the bike a bit tall for me also. So I let the forks come through the triple tree by 20mm. It don't sound much but it make a hell of a lot of difference when you are coming in for a landing.
I Also put some HID lamps and ballasts on the bike I do a bit of riding at night and found the default bulb were not very good at all. You have to put a k& N lifetime air filter, and the aftermarket mapping download. the big cat goes ballistic 6ooorpm and above.
I have done 26.000 ks on mine. Going very well. If you want any advise about anything at all re the big cat. E-mail me at- t1050@xtra.co.nz that will get me straight away.
There is a few things I would like to discuss with you privately, so get in touch ok?
nice bike colour![]()
Awesome looking bike Huck. The power cone looks far nicer than the ones Thunderbike tried to intice me to buy. I have the factory panniers but wouldn't recommend them and with the $2500 I could have got the performance pipes and still had $1500 to burn. Another one of those lifes lessons. I also bought the Ventura back racks for the bike and the 50 litre Ventura bag which works brilliantly.
Cheers Corky

A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"
Bowls can wait !
Wow Huck, funny how you picture people on here when you don't know them!
I pictured you (in the minds eye) as big tall lean guy (with attitude) but you are more like Shreck's brother, the one with the hair!
Nice looking bike, I note the shiny clear windscreen and think I share your secret on that one.
I tried a Thunderbike can on my 955i and just loved the noise but it gave Mrs O a headache with a trailing wind.
I find my bike almost too tall and like you say, the landings are not pretty at times but boy I sure do like this bike.
I really like the 1050 front but think they (Triumph) messed up the back end but that's just my opinion.John.
Shrek's Bro aye John, well I will take that as a compliment. Now your can: If you get a low one. Heaps of companies make them now, The noise is reduced by at least 50% as I run mine with the baffle in most times. If I go to a raid Then I take it out. Five minute job, just need a pair of inside cir clip pliers.
Yes John your dead right about stuffing the back end up. (did I speak to you at the Dunedin rat raid Silver Tiger). You are somewhat bent over? Anyway I love the bike. I have had my fair share of problems with it and continue to as I write. But I will get there, TNZ are a tough crowd on warranty stuff. Shame that because it just drives a bloke away from the product, and next time the customer doesn't even consider another new Triumph. So in my case, they have to smarten up there act. They have seven months to go before I am out of warranty and looking for a replacement bike.
Great bikes alright I have an 07 done 28000 cliks going like a rocket (excuse the pun) What pack do you ride with. Auckland have a very active RAT group.
Cheers and enjoy your new bike. Hope to see you up at the Kaitia raid in Oct/Nov time
May as well add my 2 cents worth. I had a loaner black Tiger today. Only 150km on the clock and this one had the Triumph louder muffler - but it looked just like the standard. Made a nice noise, nothing at all anoying, just let you know that something powerful was lurking under your bum. No not those, they have supositories to cure that.
I had a 5 minute blat on an 07 Speedtriple recently and liked that, but it didn't really blow me over, like "wow, I must have one"
The Tiger on the other hand totally took me by surprise! I got in about 120kms on it today doing a couple of full loops around the bays (Shelly- Lyall-Island-Newtown park and back again..and again..
Nice twisty roads to sample a machine.
Power - well it's a triple and I already know all about that from the 675. Smooth fluid drive from idle to redline. No vibes or buzzing.
Brakes - exceptional.
Suspension- super comfortable if not a bit too far towards soft.
Ride position - must be close to perfect for comfort, visibility ahead and the wide bars made it so easy to flick side to side. It is a TALL bike though, maybe too much so, to the point that they have lost out on sales.
Cornering - very good. I was on brand new tyres so was never going to push it too hard. And it has rained every day here since ....May? But I was pleasantly surprised at the enjoyment I got from throwing such a tall and supposedly heavy bike around like a lightweight toy. It seemed to soak up bumps no trouble and wanted to lean until Christmas.
I can imagine this being a top bike for tourers who want a bike that can also tackle a hill/twisties like a sportsbike when the mood takes you, and one that can wheelie and stoppie just for the fun of it.
Oh and I thought it looked sweet in black. It's wiped "buy a Cruiser one day"
of my long term plans.
