    Sore hand/wrist from clutch!!

Hey-today I went with the crew on an awesome cruise for the pre-helicopter trust ride on the 28th. Well....my left had started to ache like buggery when I had to change gears....I am talking soooo sore that I was thinking how the hell was I going to get home and who could ride my bike back.I could not even hold the clutch all the way in properly on the way back home and had to ride like a twit jumping along at changes. This has only happened since the bike was serviced at 6000kms (now about 7000kms).
I had a search about `sore clutch' (not crutch) threads and it says it could be because the setup is not right (bring on Oscarnzd girls night I say!!). I do have to change heaps cos my bike is such a gutless wonder-but the clutch is quite `firm' to pull in too. It is managable for short rides but longer rides its a killer.
    Any ideas?

Oh dear, another sad little post from the man who thinks sarcasm is wit.

are you stretching to use it? Do you have to have the clutch handle hitting the handgrip for your clutch to be in? On mine I only have to hold the clutch in about a cm for the clutch to be disengaged so my hand is never actualyl closed. If it wasnt doing it before and doing it now then it should be able to be adjusted back the way it was.

PS. good to see you out today and thanks for the milo. (not coffee)

you could also look at changing the angle of the clutch lever in relation to the handlebar/clip-on, this may alleviate some of the pain from what is essentially a OOS injury. Someone in your part of the world will be able to show you how to do it.

If you were a bloke i'd say stop using your left hand so much ! But ya aint so i wont oppps too late !
Obviously a cable clutch ! Does it spend a fair amount of time out in the rain ? Even if it don't and its only recent that its stiffened up (no Yod i wasn't calling ya) it could be quite dry in the cable (should have been oiled at service but who can tell) give a bit of crc or sewing machine oil a go !!
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

Yes I do have to stretch out my hand fully to grab it and it seems to have to come in a fair way to work.
Biggest son has had a look and says hand cable bit is out as far as it will go.......I am guessing there must be another place to adjust it?

Nice to be out with you all again too ....

my clutch kills my wrist esp in the cold.....

and its soft ive just put it down to the torn ligaments and tendon thingys in my wrist..... before a ride pop 2 nerofen and after hot wheat sack on the wrist plus strengthing exercises help....

but i agree it fucking hurts big time
I've learnt to hide the pain inside, open the throttle and ride away.

I work in IT and one of the no no's for keyboard use is to have your hand bent up from your wrist.
Its ok to have your hand lower or even with your
wrist but if your hand is raised up, it puts pressure on the carpel tunnel causing your wrist and hand to start aching.

The same problem occurs with clutch and brake use.

The solution for me was to make sure that when I put my hand on the bar and reach for the clutch/brake that your forearm/hand is straight or slightly bent
    down.

You'll be surprised at what a few millimeters of clutch/brake rotation will make to
your riding comfort, especially if your clutch/brake is hard to pull in.

I've simply developed a huge left hand wrist muscle. I can curl and uncurl my fingers repetitively for long periods of time now

it wont help your wrists, maybe bring the leaver a little closer. but i hope your clutch has a little free-play.
