Yep far too early a start for this old fella ! Might have to head for the manawatu lol they have more salubrious start times !~
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

    Twas a brilliant day

... great ride with good people ... me, Dingoz, Bullitt, Pedrostt500 and Karmakillernz all fronted to a stunning blue skies day.

The route was totally predictable (well, with a detour) but is great at any time in any company on any day. Rimutex to Featherston was uncommonly windy on the hill today yet the winds at ground level weren't even apparent. I don't ever recall being pushed off-line going to Featherston like we were today. Yet when we turned right at Featherston for Martinborough there was no wind effect at all on the run out there. If you're going to get a NW, that's usually where you feel it. Brunch at Toppy's in Martinborough was up to its usually high standard and very popular, there must have been a changing guard of about 15 biikes while we ate.

With full stomachs and caffeine-primed we headed south of Martinborough to join the Martinborough Masterton Rd all the way to Gladstone where (after a scenic detour) we hung a left into Gladstone Road, passed the pub then left onto Kokotau Rd which takes us back to Ponatahi and from there back to Martinborough.

The whole ride was just 153km long, we left at 10:11, spent at least an hour at brunch and were back at Rimutex around 14:15.

Not a bad way to spend 4 hours on a sunny Sunday huh thanks guys for the company

Sure was a great ride (despite me dropping the bike!) It had been too long since I was able to get out on some nice roads on a beautiful day.

That was about 5 mins before you arrived. He pulled up and where the concrete runs at a 45 degree angle where it turns to ashfault (sp). Bike on ashfault and stand on concrete which was marginally higher.

Puts bike on stand but its too upright and falls over on its right side. Once it starts going is too heavy to stop as its heading away from him.

Result broken mirror and a scratch on the lower part of the fairing

Finally got my bike in the shop for a few repairs, such as speedio fixed, broken off nob fixed, battery recharged, melted breathing tube fixed up and replacement tyres so will be good to join some Sunday Morning cruising, the weather has been especially awesome lately

Yeah, that was an "oh shit" moment if ever I've had one. It's all good now though - put the new mirror and brake lever on tonight so I'm all set for next time.

    Yup but the attitude of

"Bugger, it will be right - It runs, who needs a mirror and only half a brake lever, going for the ride anyway......"

Was awesome. I would have been gutted....

I was just about to suggest you could do it all again this Sunday ... but have you seen the forecast ????

Wairarapa = Outbreaks of rain, mainly about the Tararua Ranges. Northerlies, rising to gale for a time in exposed places.

Manawatu = Outbreaks of rain, isolated thunderstorms possible. Gusty northerly winds.

    Ackkkk!

You know it's going to be a bad day when you jump out of bed and miss the floor.
