not that i'd bother... just put some clear on it to stop rust and fix it when you go to sell or once insurance is paying
Yeah bro 200 to 300 will be the whole tank...150 is sort of a patch work. Basically I would not be bothered at all just needs to make sure the rust does not get any larger.

My bike has a very very small dent on the right side of the tank ...can only see it under super bright weather weather... hey Zim like what Andrew and perhaps many people would have said dont worry about the dent as you are still a newbie right?

You gonna reach a point where you will have to repair it cosmetically later on...I think you know what I mean I just dare not say it directly haahaaa

hehe. i get it. it's like fate for teh bike (i get). hehe. will get it surface painted to prevent further rust tho (if not done already).

apparently the black one down in nelson's been sold. so that leaves teh silver one. haven't managed to get a person to check it up yet, but am gonna send out a few more pm's tonyt.

could always get it sent up. am sure it wouldn't cost more than 250 (if nelson's best price came up as $425 (inclusive of gst). but a road trip would be fun! hehe.

I say get the black one if you can, seems like a better bike to me.

Either way just buy one of them, would be good to have another vtr in the club. Specailly if it has a pipe on it, we could have a sound off

You could go through your entire motorcycling without getting the shiny side down dude. There is a high chance you will stationary drop it but whether you *the word that shall not be said* it is up to you.

Advice..listen well zim...you listening. OI!..good now your listening:

Don't ride outside of your comfort zone before your ready, do not try and keep up to give your ego a boost. As a mentor told me, lock your ego in a box mate when you sit on the saddle. I learnt things the hard way, eide with what speed is comfortable to you, when you want to ride to places you want to ride to.

Riding in group may feel good, and blasting out to woodcocks might seem brilliant after a week of riding but be sensible and you'll live to be a ripe old motorcyclist..as i plan to.

Now buy a bloody bike and get riding.

Lol never start your haggling at a good price!!! $3,800 is a good start, and would be one cheap bike!

Go 3500 first as you are taking the risk and play the price. Then slowly go up by 100 bucks. If he will not bulge and has set a final price then say you will think about it but call back 20 mins later say I managed to scrap all the extras i have and give him another price that is close to his offer etc etc.... and make sure he has 2 keys and a full tank of gas

exactly what i was thinking, easier to raise your offer than lower it.

awesome. so i've messaged and asked for his honest opinion on the bike's mechanical condition. any things too keep an eye on, any unusual sounds, or jutters that feel wrong. have asked about how the dent got there, if there's rusting and if he's painted over it, (clear - as andrew said), to prevent rusting/stop further rust. waiting on a reply... from there, we bargain! wish me luck! what price should i cut off at? he says "near 4100" offer.. so? 3900 cap?

Don't haggle over pms haggle in person, it's a lot easier and looking someone in the eyes is better, don't worry bout offending people, you have the right to haggle if he doesn't like it he can try haggle you up. Oh and never take a sellers word on bikes..harsh I know as there are nice and genuine sellers people out there but the world will fuck you over many times more than open it's bosom to you haha. * I know from experience*

Get someone experienced to check it out or get a mechanical check.

Worse comes to worse, he sells it to another person before you get there. Never rush, never regret my friend.
    Read my pm.

It's pretty tough to go all the way down to Wanganui just to haggle eye to eye and not agree on a price then to come back with nothing though

It's a rather new bike with relatively low k's, in the ad he describes the recent servicing and it all sounds pretty clear cut and well done.

Choices are to believe what he says, talk to the mechanic who serviced it, see if anyone on KB will check it out for you, or go all the way to check it out before buying.
