eek With all my worldly goods I thee endow (I do?)

Something for the sad but (apparently) true files. I know some of you will have been through a divorce so forgive my trying to see funny side, but check this irony.

I saw this KTM 200 for sale on Trademe a few weeks ago along with a not uncommon comment - "Wife says bike must go!" I guess he wasn't serious enough about selling it (judging by original asking price) but evidently she was! bike turned up for sale again yesterday, with new details added:

"You are more then welcome to come and view the bike, only serious bidders though, no joy rides. This was my Husband's bike, due to separation I own the bike legally with papers. So I will try and answer the questions to the best of my knowledge."

I wonder if he was allowed to keep his dog?

She is not legally allowed to sell property of any sort until ownership has been declared bythe courts. If it does get sold then he may initiate repossession and the new owner either left out of pocket or have to seek compensation from the seller (not as easy as you might think)
Another point is that if she sells it then it must at a price that he agrees to instead of a grossly underinflated price and the money split between them by agreement.

You should post that as a question on the auction....

Have just added *Col*'s bit as a question to the auction:
    Have been told the following:
"She is not legally allowed to sell property of any sort until ownership has been declared by the courts. If it does get sold then he may initiate repossession and the new owner either left out of pocket or have to seek compensation from the seller"
If this is so can you guarantee that this will not happen? If it does, will you return the money without too much hassle to the purchaser?

Whew. Unwittingly set the cat amongst the pigeons a bit with this post. Some pretty strong feelings there.

Danger you have me a bit intrigued: quote: 'Damn I'm tempted to snap that one up for myself! Last of the good ones!' Unquote.

That particular bike has a lot of hours on it and he never even had the jug off! Remembering your reporting big hours on your original piston. Whats the scoop?

Never fall for the old, "bike goes or i go" line.
If she says that then tell her to pack her bags & get out.
    A. She wants to own you & control what you own & what you do for relaxation.
    B. She wants it turned into cash, so when she leaves next week she can take half (Far more use than half a motorbike)
    C. All of the above.
I was very fortunate to have an ex wife that wanted no part of my considerable bike collection.

I see she's reworded the auction...
"Ktm, great condition, regularly serviced, has never been raced, just ridden on farm. have owned the bike for 5 years. Plastic have a few scuffs on it otherwise from that nothing else is wrong. Feel free to ask any question, or make any offers. You are more then welcome to come and view the bike, only serious bidders though, no joy rides. This was my Husbands bike, due to separation I am the sole owner of the bike and have legal Sole ownership given by the lawyers and through the courts with papers to prove it, So there is no need to worry about REPOSSESSION. So I will try and answer the questions to the best of my knowledge. Thanks and sorry to all for the confusion i had caused on the first description "

How do you know how many hours this bike is done?
And don't worry, they're all good, some just better than others. Off course the factorys all want you to think the new one is always better than the old. I just say that about the '02 cause that is what I have and a rider who had an '02 then a couple of later models once told me that the '02 was the last of the good ones and it just stuck. Some of the things I like about my model in comparison to the new ones are the 43mm two bushing forks, the two high flow pistons in the shock, the progressive spring, the better plastics, the swingarm, the see through tank, the great piston life, the strong gearbox, the rear brake rotor.
Some of these aspects did not see improvements in later models. Some improvements that have been made to later models include fatbars, better front axle arrangement for faster wheel changes, a longer needle inside the shock, 12mm cartridge rod (might have been changed again this year from what I'm hearing, the front guard and I'm scratching my head for much else. Off course different aspects of the newer bikes maybe listed as improvements to other owners.
Frames have been ovalised. Carb has been changed (but my bike feels more powerful than the newer ones I've ridden but my bike is jetted good). Plastics are still not as good.
And my bike has had many improvements over a stock '02, suspension, triple clamps, muffler, steering damper, carb needles, fatbars, front guard and careful setup. If I really felt the new 200's were a major improvement over the '02 I would have bought one already. But they were really good to start with from my model.
You can't really go wrong. I don't expect this '02 to be in high demand and I'm trying to resist the temptation to be a bike hoarder. Maybe if I had more room.
