I was considering the DRZ but i think the yamaha 660 would give me a bit more grunt as it would be a commuter and a weekend play/ sideways toy.

Yes it can.

And if your built like i am (6 foot tall and 60kg's) then the DRZ is just perfect Throw on a yoshi full exhaust, do the 3x3 mod, jet the carb and Off You Go (tm).

The xt660 is a pig at 173kg's dry (DRZ is 134 dry) And it puts out 48 HP compared to the DRZ's 40.
