Im not looking for any $$$ - only payment to have the bike checked out and any damage done to it. Its not a profit making exercise.

Yeah - Im kinda happy with myself for keeping it upright - 260kgs would have been a issue should it had started gone over. I was pushed several meters forward - I reckon she hit me doing about 30km.

Yep - I got her details.

And yes - the helmet stunt was stupid. Im off to buy a cheap spare tomorrow when I collect the new one.

Don't forget to get in touch when setting up the helmets
Gubb - I made comments in the N103 thread in bike gear. I cannot fit it the face is way closer then the N102 and I have to pull my jaw back just to fit it. But on the bright side - I picked up a Shark RSR2 full face - the reviews for that helmet are awesome - so Im pretty happy. Plus its really bright with reflectors - should make me more visable to silly cows in cages than my current matt black one.

Thanks for the offers of help BTW - really appreciated.

(The driver that struck me from behind was charged).

Rode mine straight back to the shop to get it checked out. Wise idea
I hadnt thought of contacting the police - but you all who recommend it make a good point. Silly thing is her daughter rides a bike and was hurt by a cager - so apparently she is more aware of bikers ..... TUI.

So Ill lodge a compaint - I believe I have 48 hours for a no injury accident.

yeah - but Im trying to lose weight.

Thanks for the nice comments BTW.

Update - Rode the bike to Holshot. First impressions are no damage - although it seems to make some new noises - Rob (workshop manager) is going to give it a good going over tomorrow.

But - no scary moments riding there or the loaner back (apart for not finding first on the loaner at the lights and quick panic that the car behind me was going to take off into my back) - so Ive not lost confidence in being able to ride (not to be mistaken for overconfidence). So on that front Im happy. Its true - you have to get back on that horse (or M50)

Personally, i'd like Katman to explain how this particular accident was your fault, and what you should have done to stop it from happening in the first place.

Im sure we will - to be honest Ive asked myself if there was anything I could have done differently - but I cannot think of anything (other than the helmet).

I've been hit from behind by a car at a roundabout too. A couple of years ago on my Zeal, it was. Identical situation; I gave way to an oncoming car and the driver behind me 'thought I'd already gone'.

(Oddly enough, it was at the roundabout about 200m down the road from the house I moved into two weeks ago. It's good to be back Out West...)

Anyway, he shunted me about a metre forward. Bike was fine, but his boss's Corolla had a big Pirelli-shaped dent smack in the middle of the front bumper for him to explain.

    Good job, said I.

Glad to hear you're OK, Tank, and I wouldn't be surprised if the bike's fine too - an impact dead straight onto the back of it will probably not have distorted the frame or swingarm. (If the impact hadn't been dead straight on, I imagine that you'd have been knocked over.)

Not much we can do about this shit other than keep as aware as possible.

Stickchick and I barely escaped serious injury on Betty a couple of months ago when some idiot driver failed to see red lights on Esmond Road, locked up his brakes and skidded a good 10m out into the intersection. He'd been approaching from directly behind us and just managed to swerve out of that path before he lost all traction.

I try to always keep an eye on my mirrors, but sometimes there ain't much you can do to protect yourself from truly homicidal stupidity.

My bloomin ex did the same to me, bike remained upright, wedged in the front bumper of my own car! If you can't trust yer own family, and she was my main pillion by the way, you can't trust any bugger.

Take it easy dude and ride again soon, all the best.

Seriously though, am so glad you're ok Tank. I understand the sick feeling you have when you think about your helmet, but everything is fine now - don't dwell on what might have happened

Lucky you didn't end up in Hospital like I did when I got hit by a cage a few months ago. Broken bones, all healed up now though. Just bought a new CBR!

Pleased to hear you are OK and you got right back on again!

Roundabouts scare the out of me! Although I am woman and can multi task I struggle to look in all directions at roundabouts - and my mirrors are never looked at!

Don't worry about missing first gear on the loaner - you can pick it up on the way back!

No good mate. Glad you kept it upright, and fingers crossed the damage is next to nothing.

Will add one more thing on my list of stuff to watch our for.

I think its amazing how many people at roundabouts expect that even slight forward momentum from the vehicle in front means that it is going to proceed through... and so therefore take their eyes off of that vehicle and watch to their right ready to plant boot when the gap looks do-able only to plow into the back of the car / bike that has since come to a complete stop in front of them... its a BAD habit that way too many people have (including myself) and the consequences have the potential to be devastating.

good save, dude. Yeah get the cops to book her - another example a foolish and dangerous 'mistake' on her part.
