Now to be serious (yes I can be), I do think that we need to take keep this in mind (from Stuff just now)

MetService said it was concerned about the potential wind, wave and rain impacts from a rapidly intensifying storm heading for northern New Zealand by Saturday, striking first in Northland and Auckland before reaching Bay of Plenty and Gisborne on Sunday.

The unnamed low which originated in the tropics is coming from the Queensland coast, and was more intense than the current typical winter storm.

"This is no ordinary storm. It's one of the largest and deepest lows we've seen for some years," MetService spokesman Brian Kreft said.

"By the time this system reaches northern New Zealand on Saturday, it is likely to have significant destructive potential."

Damaging gales and very heavy downpours were possible in many North Island areas, and strong winds would create treacherous seas.

It will be interesting on Sat morning Mike.
I think the weather will determine things to some extent, but at any time decisions can be made to withdraw, hold up, reasses etc.
Lots of wise old cookies on this ride, so common sense will prevail I'm sure.

Well the bike is sitting outside my office all loaded up, all I think I have forgotten is a pair of shoes and that isnt a biggy.

Triboy and Co I will see you all at Pio Pio at 2.00pm

Re weather, I will play it by ear from tomorrow morning. I was planning on heading back to New Plymouth on Sunday but have warned my son (so he has time to clean the house up if needed!) that I could be home Saturday afternoon, Sunday as planned, or even Monday.
