Cool thanks guys. Yeah I was chatting to Dad tonight and I think I will invest in a beat up rg150. Something that will run (not run awesome, can't afford that! Haha) and that I would have no problem thrashing and crashing if it came to that. Where is the best place to start for a beat up rg150? I can do some mechanical stuff if need be.

That's where the priorities bit kicks in.

The rgv is aircooled and not really competitive with the rg watercooled...but it's close to you and a cheap entry to racing for a beginner
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

How can a single cylinder be a 'V' ? Or do I need to brush up on my bike specs ?

    Looks like the latter

One of my mates owns an rg150 and another owns an rgv150. I have ridden both and the rg150 leaves the rgv150 for dead! Is it worth starting on an rgv150 though to save $$? Don't they handle poopy compared to the rg150?

You are right. At the end of the day, you want to get on the track and racing. And you don't have a lot of moolah? There are always options, I merely pointed out one (that is not worth pursuing if you are serious). Even RG150s can be costly to race. But cheap compared to the bigger bikes/classes.

Yeah I could imagine! But if I do well on the track/have heaps of fun then the $$ will be well worth it! Thanks for your advice!

No one can afford to crash there bike! If ya got a bike ride it rather then waste money on some other piece that still gonna cost ya to fix. What damage you gonna do anyways scratch some fairings just put some glass on if thats the case or just remember its a street bike and ride at 95% you should never crash

Sweet if you can race streetstock! otherwise clubmen i guess, best advice i could give ya is get a decent set of s/h race tyres cost ya fa

Cool thanks for all the advice guys. I am going to go look at an rg150 in town soon hopefully! Got to wait for the guy to email me back. You know what, I now know what overdrafts are for! Motorbikes! I got my first bike using a bit of my overdraft. Didn't regret it for even a second.

My question now is, I can buy a one piece racing suit off trademe pretty cheap but is it gay to wear a one piece for racing? Hahaha. It is cheaper to get a one peice at the moment and they protect better apparently, but I don't want to look like an absolute tool when I turn up for my first day out racing on track. I am sure you can all tell by now that money is tight, but I really have to give racing a go.
