First Trip out after 5 years.

Well, we hit the Sandpit today, (literally at one point) its been 5 years since I was out riding on the dirt. I was a little concerned that I would of completely lost all ability. But guess what, its like riding a bike. (Pun intended). I stood up as much as possible, elbows up and out, the chicken wing stance, knees bent, and OMG it worked. Mental note, my god am I unfit. Bike went well, I got to cocky at the end and paid for it, came off one whoop, bike got off line, clipped the bank and I was gone "SMACK" hit the ground, lay there for a min, winded, thinking, "you stupid bugger". Up to that point I had slowly got faster and faster over the course of the day, I took the fall as a hint to back off and as I was pretty sore, decided to cal it a day. All in all a great day out and I'm a very happy man that I haven't completely lost what little ability I had.
The art of being wise is knowing what to overlook.

I was there this afternoon as well!! Great day! The MX track was a bloody mess but I suppose it had been cained over the last few days. Found some good red tracks. Lovely sunny day only there in the afternoon but still 2 hours on the meter.
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

    Takin it easy...

Good one 2Slo. Best to take it real easy first 6 months. Took me about a year (after 20 years off though) to finally get the basic skills and confidence properly back. Kicked myself for all the needless falls I took earlier on trying too hard and still riding much slower than now . Much quicker and safer now with a lot less effort. Be patient.

    Ahhh no.

That honour belongs to me I'm afraid. More buggered ribs, so do your apprenticeship and if I can help give me a yell.

[QUOTE=Reckless;1683167] The MX track was a bloody mess but I suppose it had been cained over the last few days.

Yes, unfortunately the weekday warriors(them that don't work for a crust) give it death. Come Sunday arvo and its had 100 riders on it lap after lap and is trolleyed for us joe average riders.
Luckily its sand so it grooms out o.k every Monday, already for another pounding come Wednesday morning.
