Popped into Cycletreads last week to pick up some fork oil for a mate to prepare for replacing his fork seal.
Had no idea what I was after, pottered around the shop for a few minutes, pretending to know what I was looking at, when they asked if I needed any help.
The guy (mid-20's) looked up in his little book at how much oil I needed per fork, came out to 508mls per fork, and we were planning on doing both forks.
"Not a problem" says the man, here's the 1L of oil you can buy, and he presented me with another 20mls from their workshop drum in a bottle for that extra little bit, so we don't need to buy another Litre.
Was stoked. Awesome service, really helpful staff, they have now gained a customer for as long as I continue to live in Auckland.
Popped in again this morning, after the same guy sold me on a set of new tyres. Dropped the bike in at 9.30, they started replacing both tyres, when they noticed the chain was knackered. Replaced that too.
Was all done by 10.30 while I pottered around the shop.
$510 for two new Bridgestone BT-45's, a new chain, and some chain lube. Not too bad by the looks of prices elsewhere. And bloody quick.
They gave me a run down as to the best way of scrubbing in new tyres (it's my first new set ever), and I left. Really happy.
Thought I may share a positive experience with Bike shops, as far too often there is much moaning, and groaning, but no praise. Thank you Cycletreads. You'll be seeing me far more frequently!
