    I love mussels, but I'm really not that fond of the orange ones, prefer the white ones. So what is the difference between the orange ones and the white ones? Breed? Sex? Age?
    And which ones do you prefer?
    The little orange ones are yum!
    I have em' at all the gatherings here....chilli flavoured...
    It took me a very long time to even put one in my mouth and chew, didnt have my first one till my late 20's, and that was after a session on the Tequila (I am talking about mussels here) Same with Paua.

    Also VERY partial to raw Bluff oysters.... although a few years ago I scoffed a 2 1/2 dozen tin in a sitting, and one of those 30 oysters was a dud, the bastard came charging back up, with reinforcements! Took me a few years to muster the courage to eat oysters again

    [QUOTE=Nagash;1706818]Mussels.. the best food ever.

    Prefer them the most when they're smoked but the holy triad of Garlic, Ginger and chilli always goes absolutely beautifully.

    Otherwise, boiled with water, white wine and garlic is good too.

    +1 but eaten with chunky french bread so you can soak up the white wine and garlic sauce afterwards! YUMMMMY

    When we lived in Nelson a few years ago, we'd rock on over to Naturesmoke at Mapua and have a feed of mussels straight out of the smoker... bewdy!

    There's a cure for crabs. You pour whiskey on them and then sprinkle on some sand. The little buggars get pissed and stone thenselves to death
