    Squealing clutch

If the clutch on your K7 is making noises, don't worry. Brakes squeal. My K4 clutch makes the odd howl if I hammer the clutch on quick take offs.
Don't waste your money on new clutch parts until the bike has 50/60,000kms on the clock. Quicker take offs mean lower top speed. You can't have it both ways. johnD

Yes you can. The J Costa variator works differently to the standard one. It improves take off, and lowers revs at higher speeds.

I have been thinking about what I have spent so far on my scooter and realised that even if I buy a Malossi clutch and a J Costa variator - the total spend will still be more than $2K less than a new scooter that doesn't have a Givi windscreen or top box would have cost me, and that is comparing it to the deal Coleman's offered me on the new K7 on the floor (about $1K off).

From what I have read the clutch + variator parts will improve the way the scooter drive train works to what a lot of people think Suzuki should have done in the first place. It will still be a 400 and wont have the power & torque of the 650 but will have noticeably improved acceleration and 'on power' 'off power' feel - if you understand what I mean. They say that when cruising with traffic you can open the throttle and the power comes through better for good acceleration with no 'dead spots'. It really sounds like the scooter will feel like a new improved machine.

I just need to make sure I can afford to be spending the money to import these parts. But I have been getting a good flow of work recently, so within a month or so my money flow should be fairly good. I will at least wait until after the closing date for this month on my credit card before I put the order through.

At the moment I am busy on Saturday, but have no plans for Sunday . . . . . weather forecast is for fine weather . . . . . so, are we going to meet up and go for a ride or what?

    Who's in?

It didn't take you long to become dissatisfied with your new toy!

    Big scooter cruise.

Come on all you B/man and big scooter operaters, the ride for you.
Sat 18th. OCT. Dept Burger King, Mt. Well, at 0900am, for Waihi and Whangamata. It's organised through the Magnetos club. Many members have other bikes as well as Vespas and "wosey" scooters. It wont be a race or who can burn the most rubber, so could be quite BORING. All welcome. johnD

Actually I was thinking that if my scooter is this much fun now - imagine how big my smile would be if some after market parts could make it even better. I am also mindful of the fact that since getting the scooter I have only used my car when I have needed to transport gear that wont fit on my scooter. So the scooter is my primary transport - therefore I would look to prioritise spending money on the scooter ahead of the car.

I am also thinking about what I would need to go camping on my scooter - I have a tent, but my sleeping bag is too big. I would probably need one of those goose down sleeping bags that rolls up really small + a bed roll that is OK for comfort, but doesn't take up much space. Apparently a Kermit chair is a popular choice for bike campers for a chair that can fit in most luggage.

Just because I am thinking of buying more stuff it doesn't mean I don't like the stuff I have. If I was dissatisfied with my scooter I would not be so keen on spending money on it, rather than buying it lots of after market goodies.

I might be up for that if I can keep that day clear.

If I found it Boring riding at a cruisey speed and only liked to burn rubber and race then I would have bought a fast crotch rocket rather than a maxi scooter.

That might be worth considering. Looking at the Ulysses website it seems I am old enough (just) to join even. The weather forecast looks good for Sunday so I definitely want to get out on the scooter and ride somewhere. So far it is a choice of joining you on the Ulysses ride or the MAHA 400.
