I just hope it's not like their last attempt to clean up engines (Formula Shell) that buggered a lot of engines

Yeah, fact of the matter is that I reckon the add is awesome. Don't like it? I don't really care. Will it make me buy v-power? No, I would not go out of my way. Have just tried the Gull high octane stuff, and I have definitely noticed performance improvements, maybe v-power will do the same.
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.

I am trying the cage on different fules. V Power makes the car use up to 1l per 100kms more than 91. I am not impressed and am trying other brands of high octane before going back to shell 91.

BTW - just completed a comparison of my fuel consumption figures pre and post using Shell V-Power (first fill with V-Power was 23/06/08)
Before: km/L 25.42 (using Shell Super)
    After: km/L 28.43

After having recently purchased many litres of fuel in the USA and Canada, I am now keen to learn why petrol in New Zealand is coloured, whereas its North American equivalent is as clear as tap water, irrespective of grade. Presumably the colouring is added for some cosmetic purpose?

So they can spot which is road legal (i.e. taxed) and which isn't.

Same with the smell, so you know it is gas.

Who is "they", and where does one procure non-taxed petrol?

They are the enforcers of choice, presumably the Police in conjunction with the IRD? Non taxed petrol, presumably farms have access to it, maybe places like airports and race tracks?
