Robo, we always have a tail end charlie system where an experienced rider will bring up the rear and make sure nobody gets left behind. In saying that we generally travel a fair bit in 100km/h zones so you'll find 70km/h quite limiting
He'll be ok round the bays between here and Diamond Harbour restricting to 70km/hr as there are few straights that side of things.
On this side of the hill, especially Akaroa Highway, well, 90 to 100 would be nicer but as they say people will keep an eye on him no matter what.

Im sure the TEC will look after you mate. There are always members who tootle along at a very leasurely pace.
Its not about the speed, its about the ride.
In saying that, I finnished work today, have 4 weeks off, pick up my seat from uphoslterer tomorrow, painting is completed and I collect the tank, panels and wheels on thursday, the last parts to buy are a bottle of brake fluid and a jug of oil.....such a problem ......
So I will have 12 full days to work uninterupted on my ride.
I think I will make it to the first ride of the season to join you all.
Roll on the summer, warm nights, hot days, clear roads, and a tank full of gold!
To be old and wise, first you must be young and stupid.
Sounds like a job for the super slow old fart on the harley..... hell thats me.
The Diamond Harbour road works near Blacks point has been sealed but is gravelly. Went over Gebbies to Akaroa on the main road last weekend and the road was fine and CBR250Tom rode the wheels of me coming back.
Robo, 70km might be a bit slow for any distance on the open road.
McWild, no probs.
C'mon guys, the very first ride I came on went all the way to Dauvachelles (sp) and back, and my Chinese Hunk-O-Junk never exceeded 80km/h! The regathering points are close enough together that you never have to wait too long!
Robo, just make sure you hit the road between now & then and try to break that Scorpio in a little bit!![]()

Missus: What the f*&k is that???!!!! Where the f*&k do you think that's going??Me: It's a [insert old broken vehicle here] can't you tell?Missus: Oh for f*&k's sake... [slams door]Me: Phew, lucky she didn't see what's on the trailer!
Damn right it was a prick! That whole bike was a disaster!!! I used 2 bottles of Loctite and all new bolts the following weekend to secure all the parts I could. Sold it not long after, AFAIK it's still running fine!!
I'm now on a far more reliable 1985 2 stroke Yammie (does that tell you something about the reliability of the Chinese one??!!)

I will definatly be at the back at least for a while! So happy to travel at a slower pacve and keep the slower riders company. Will just have to split into groups (fast middle slow) will be sweet![]()
