Hell yes what a wickedly good day all thanks to the MotoTT Crew and a big thanks to all of those in the "background" that enabled the rest of us to fang our bits around Taupo.
Starting to get a bit more confidence on my fag bike thanks to some suspension set up and decent tyres.
Oh well...will try and make the next one too

Yup, thanks to motott for another good one.
Although I wasnt exactly on my game doing some damage to the vfr, then crashing dads bike on the same corner on the warm up lap. Got it on camera though

First one was because I did turn one too good, I normally run it deep and miss the apex, but I got it right for once, but it set me up too wide for turn 2 (which I didnt realise at the time), staying on the gas right through didnt help either. Nothing but my fault on that one.

Old mans bike was a different story though, front just tucked on me, wasnt on the brakes, wasnt on the gas, wasnt goin fast.
Talking to Chris (one of the main motott men) and he reckoned the mis match in front and rear tyres would have been the main cause, I would have gone around that corner faster in the wet on my GSX250 and it wouldnt have fallen over.
If you need an excuse any excuse will do.....but Im sticking with it, as the old man has done the same thing on turn 6, lost the front and didnt know why. Lucky I didnt do too much damage to his bike

Shoulders sore but nothing too bad. Not as bad as my pocket bike injurys in any case. Bikes wont be too much of a problem, straigtn the back brake lever on the old mans bike, and new handlebar pipe, foot peg bracket and some fibreglassing work for the vfr and she'll be gravy. Could have been alot more damage.

Were you on the brakes and gas at the same time? Or was there crap on the track that made the front wheel lose grip? It went down quick and the bike was fairly upright before it let go. I'd like to say thanks to MotoTT for another awesome day!
I had my first go in the yellow group, I think it suits me better, I didn't have to do as much passing and I didn't get passed as much as I thought I might.
The emulators seemed to help keep the front end more controlled going into and through corners, it was good, plus the new front tyre made a big difference, the bike felt a lot more neutral handling. And the chicken strips on the front and rear match better now, with the 60 profile front there were no chicken strips on the front while the back still had them which made me worry about rolling off the edge of the front.

Nar, just had the wrong line and tried to fix my mistake mid corner, and it just pushed the front end. Maybe it was crap on the track come to think of it? Same reason why though, too fast on wrong line.
Front tyre was getting worked to the edges more than it had previously, but I think I just needed to give myself more time to adapt to my suspension changes (stiffened the rear up a little, added more preload to the front [inch and a half maybe]), it felt better with more ride height, but definitely turned in slower and I had to setup my line better before heading into the corner.
On the plus side of the changes though was weight transfer on the brakes and coming out of corners, felt better I think. Need a little more time to get used to it though.

Cheers for throwing that up man ! Crazy the way ya front let go there ! Though ya go back a couple o turns and i cant help but think how'd ya end up on the edge there ? Seemed to be totally on line for a good exit and next thing ya in the rough !

An inch and a half (about 38mm) sounds like a lot of preload. With that much preload, there will still be a lot of force in the springs when the forks are fully extended (it must've been hard to get the caps on) so when you're accelerating and there's not much weight on the front wheel, the suspension might be too stiff to follow bumps etc. Maybe that contributed to the front wheel letting go? If that's the case, you might need stiffer springs which would require less preload to get the correct sag.
