At the risk of getting myself burnt...

    1. What a glorious day for a ride!
    2. People. It isn't necessary to perform a dangerous overtake on the Rimutakas to fulfill all the requirements of "Going for a ride". Especially one blind corner from a loooong overtaking lane.
    3. People who are at odds with the looks of the new CBR1000RR have had a taste-ectomy. The self-appointed learned folk of KB South Central have decided that it rates a "Sex On A Stick" award. Especially the Burgundy/Silver colour scheme, though I don't doubt that the Black/Yellow combination isn't equally sexy.
    4. Goldwing people are cool. Their bikes are not. The only way to make one cool would be for its wheels to retract and for it to levitate off into the distance at speed. Seeing as how that isn't going to happen, Honda should at least let a Goldwing make some sort of noise. The most appropriate noise would be a Jetson's spaceship noise. That uncanny silence makes what's left of my hair stand up.

I tend to agree on the comments about the goldwings...They dont look spacy enough for a jetson type sound...But two bikes that have to be in contention for that sound would have to be Hondas big auto, the DN-01...the other has to be the Victory Vision 10th anniversary special...

My recent test vehicles are indeed the DN01, Goldwing and Victory Vision - and just returned the Hammer.

There are photo pages on my (currently being updated) site.

All of them sound 'OK' when onboard.

With the Goldwing and the Vision - the engine noise is absolutely irrelevant - both have stereos that go to eleven.

    1. Yes, but we had to take the MX 5 over the Coro Hill instead of the 'bird as Mrs B wanted lunch out at a "nice" cafe in comfort. Had to be nice to her if I wanted to get laid in the near future
    2. It's catching up north too. 3 bikes passed us on the Coro Hill. The Termignonis on the Duke sounded incredible. The twat at the back (a Gixxer of course) didn't want to get dropped off by his mates and overtook on a blind bend. He made it fortunately, but the clock is ticking...
    3. Couldn't agree more and would love one if I had permission
    4. Hahaha. I rode alongside one on the Hamiton Toy Run. He was playing Chuck Berry on his sound system at full noise - that was seriously cool.

    Cheers from oop north

We saw several of those Victory tourers whilst in the USA. We even shared a motel with one at Moab Utah. There is a shit load of aftermarket stuff for them as well, including some way cool zorsts that from the rear look like Gattling guns.

And Wing owners are great folk, in an eerie Wing owner kind of way...

Apparently the best way of completing insane passing maneuvers on the Rimutakas is to wear a flouro vest.

Such a nice day - I'm getting better fuel economy than normal today, no hurry, just cruisin'. If there is something better than a Sunday it is a fine sunny Sunday. Today fuckin' rocks!

Now I'm home and I am trying to think of some more shopping to do so I can go out for a bit more of a ride.

Sure was a nice day for a ride...even if the excuse was to destroy a tyre.Lots of moments, but the clincher that it was done gone was having to foot it in a major slide on a tight sealed corner.....hope those guys I caught up to in front didn't glance in their mirror.

And kids in silly little Toyota hatches shouldn't try to out run an old fart on a dirt bike with worn tyres - they ran off the road on a left hand corner, into the ditch, got back on their side of the road just as two cars came around the next corner.I dropped back after that and took them at a safer place where I could give them room.

If another motorcyclist does a courtesy stop at an accident scene to make sure all is under control - it would be nice to receive some small acknowledgment that all is ok,being ignored will make me think again next time.

And I don't like having a finger wagged at me by BMW riders - WTF was that all about turd brain?

What a primo day for a ride! Got an awesome clear run up the Takas so there was no one around to pass ME Think I saw ya going up as I was coming down Jim..though I was travelling so slooooooowly that I might have mistaken you as you went by me so quick

BIG thanks to all the lovely bikers out there that warned of the five oh - very much appreciated as my first ride as an insured and fully licensed rider saw me stretching the bikes legs a bit..saw figures on the speedo that I hadn't seen reached before. FAB DAY Bring on SUMMER! Time for a beer on the deck now - gawsh I love daylight savings
