Coromandel Adv ride 29/30 Nov

Along the line of Rosies ride would be more of a curise/social ride as the Coro roads are not that hard and even road bikes could do the trip to Fletcher Bay.

I drove (in the Impreza) all the way up yesterday with Freebird and our better halves. Up as far as Jackson's Bay, road bikes could do it but a lot of care would be required because of loose metal. To be honest, I don't think I could do it on the Blackbird. I'd say that adventure tyres as a minimum would be required to Fletcher's Bay because of the steepness of some of the hills, loose metal and one ford in a dip with an uneven bottom. Quick evasive action of occasional high speed locals is also required .

What a wonderful, magical part of the country and long may it stay unspoiled. There was even a pod of dolphins about 50 m from the shore at Fletcher's Bay. Also a naval exercise towards Great Barrier with aircraft, frigates and what may have been an Aussie sub.

On the Calendar screen, first select "on road events" on the top right/h side & then highlight/select November (Not NovEmeber - that's a different calendar than the one that we're on ... ) 2008 after that - you'll find it.

So are we going then? Sounds like a sinister plot is brewing ...

Noobs are always welcome, but you must understand that there are two very important rules for newbies;
1) You can not show up any of us "experienced" riders with your gravel riding skills, and most importantly
2) You provide the alcohol, I am quite partial to Captain Morgan rum thank you!

Yes can't stop ya Just kidding, this will be a good ride for a first timer. The roads are pretty well travelled and easy going. The pace will be whatever you want it to be. No hurry to get there as only a cosy fire and alcohol will be waiting

re the rum - unfortunately after a evening on rum about 20 years ago I still vomit at the smell of it - would you settle for bourbon?
