Daytona...more torque therefore easiest 600 to ride on the road plus a hell of a bike to grow into.
Funny you say that. It's exactly why I picked the CBR over the other 600's. Next to the R6 the power is so much more usable on the road yet it's 99.5% as sharp handling.

Interesting that the CBR has more torque (66NM @ 11,250RPM) than the 675 (64NM @ 10,400RPM). It also has more horsepower. About 10-15 more ponies.

Of course the torque curve will be different but one thing people often forget is how much more torquey (and light) Honda made the 600RR from '07 up.

That said I haven't ridden both back to back. Think I might have to take a 675 out to compare the numbers against how it feels.

Rode the CBR just now. I am sold. It doesnt sound as good as the Triumph not does it look much better but it is so much more comfortable. The riding position is perfect for me which gave me more confidence to flick it round corners. Maybe on a race track, with a good rider, the triumph is a better bike but on the road with a noob holding on for dear life the CBR is amazing.
The triumph would have been $1500 cheaper but I would have to learn how to ride all over again. With the CBR, everything felt right where its meant to be.

If everything goes well, I will be joining the Honda club.

Knew you'd fall for it Think you'll find the handling brilliant for the track as well.

Sound can be fixed with a slip-on if you're that worried about it. Pretty sure my first upgrade will be fork internals.

Huh? Ok I'm totally confused. When I got my CBR it was cheaper than the 675. Make sure you negotiate yourself a decent price. Which colour are you gonna get?

I was offered the daytona without the carbon package for 14500 and the Honda dealer didn't want to move anywhere under 16k, which sux. But hey, I'm sure I will enjoy that bike much more.
    It will be black btw

Wow that's a good deal on the 675.

$16k is a pretty decent price for a brand new CBR. Black will be yummy!

Just an FYI - My steering head bearings were munted by the 6000km service (took me until 12000km service to figure out what the pulse under braking was). They're being replaced under warranty. Doubt it's a common issue but something to watch for.

These guys have the best range of 600RR parts I've ever seen. They look like they ship to NZ but I haven't tried them yet.

And lastly check out the forums at http://www.600rr.net/vb/index.php

These guys just don't know when to stop with the mods... If you need ideas

Surely you have this backwards. Are you saying the Honda is LESS useable on the road than an R6? The same R6 that every one says is too track focussed and is a pain in the arse on the road?

It's not how much it has but where it is in the rev range. Those rev numbers should give that away. The Triumph has way more mid range than the other 600s and as a result you don't have to cane it quite so hard.

Short of gas axing one of the cylinders off there is no way a Honda is going to sound as good as the Triumph. Sure as hell a slip-on isn't going to do it.

Nah, you read it wrong, he means Honda is more road friendly, I'm sure.
