Do you actually research what you spout, or regurgitate the hysterical screechings from, what passes for, the media, in NZ?

No, it appears that you are. The point was about how a minor party with only 5% can hold a larger party to ransom. The particular party is irrelevant to that point.

What was it the head of the Electoral Commission said? A "chilling effect" wasn't it.

Yes just being inflammatory really (I'd consider the Greens to be slightly left of centre - the only political party in NZ that side of the spectrum). They get my party vote. Regrettably miles from a true socialist presence

The Labour candidate in my electorate gets the other as where I live they could put a monkey in a blue suit and get him elected - they'd probably make him one of their cabinet ministers too if they could

You're going to be so fucked when National form a Government. I sure hope you've got a good set of riding leathers. You're going to need them when reality gives you a stern kicking up the arse.

No, not really. I'm lucky in that I am fairly comfortable myself I won't really be too badly affected. Social outcomes for the less fortunate will certainly be worse and as a society we will go backwards. Must be really life affiming knowing your going to contribute to that.

Are you as ugly and offensive on the inside as your Profile picture Finn?

That's not Finn ya dick! It's his brother Gill. Finn didn't get the looks or the height that Gill did. Finn's got long flowing hair all down his back.

... none on his head... but all down his back!

Then compare with how democratic the old first past the post was when one party like national could govern on the strength it's usual 30% support base.

Face it that's their lot here 30% and fuck all friends - except Act, Roger, Mugabe, Mussolini oh and a guy called Adolf ha ha ha
Yes, I can see how the 5% holding the balance is better than the 30% holding it... A coalition is too much based on a certain amount of honour being used, clearly that's fail concept in that environment.

Yes clearly first past the post which was a far fairer system - where 70% of the public can vote against Coke but cause Pepsi got only 28%, Coke become the government.

For the record I would much prefer a voting system that would provide for much more proportional representation:

    STV: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single_transferable_vote

Right wingers only favour (their version of) "democracy" cause it gives the impression of providing participation and representation - whilst actually retaining the status quo.

As this thread has demostrated however they actually can't stand the fact that New Zealand has matured enough to have moved away from just Coke and Pepsi....waaahh it's not fair!!!!

    Honour!

This is politics, we're talking about, right?

The only reason a party needs a coalition partner, or partners, is to guarantee supply. From there on it is, or should be, all downhill for the major partner. I thought the Greens were piss weak in the last term - they could have tried to force much more through, if they weren't a pack of pansies! If the Maaaaari party hold the balance next time, I'd expect to see much more wailing and gnashing of teeth from the major partner, National or Labour!

What you lot arguing about, no matter who gets in where fucked its just the degree of fuckness you need to vote for for example

Hardcore Fuckedness = labour , greens, Moari, others in coalition

Not so Fuckedness = National with any power

we are all fucked infact fucked so much that its pointless to waste time on here arguing who will and who wont fuck us the most.

So on that basis dont worry about it my fellow fucked NZrs

Get used to your Fuckedness , learn to embrace it for what it is, then and only then will you be a happy fucker
Ive run out of fucks to give
