    Need some expert advice?

just a question on reliability, availability on parts and lastability and if the makes and models are good in the long run on the following bikes as still on the hunt for right first bike.

I know i want a sports bike as i like the seating position, power, and look. so not interested in Bandits/Hornets etc

so here are a few bikes I have on my list of posibilities.

so anyone with experience or knowledge with these bikes please inform me of the above and if you think that the (Dealer) Price is fair for what they are offering?

1995 Kawasaki ZXR250 asking price $5.995 incl free helmet, full tank, new wof/6mnths reg

1989 Honda CBR250r with as above extras. price $4.995

was thinking of a 08 Ninja 250r but dont really wanna spend the extra on a bike i will be upgrading from once i have my full. i.e $7000 +ORC

    Cheers

Well if you want to justify getting the new ninja, remember that it will sell for more when you are finished with it.

Cheers choppa that is one mint as bike. bugga bout the price coz that would be ideal!. Id have to agree with you Slyer on the fact that maybe paying the extra for the 250r would be worth it in the long run. Are the CBR250's shite or are they worth getting and doing up??? or would they be classed as (throw away) just because of the cheap prices of them

There's no way I'd spend 5k on that 1989 Honda. They're a very good bike and all, but that's a lot of money for an old bike.
Since you aren't looking for a long term steed here, I suggest buying a reliable bike privately for a much lower cost even if it means you don't quite get something as shiny as you first thought you would.

My bike doesn't leak oil; it marks its territory.

at those sort of prices you are better to buy new, those sort of bikes do not run forever without problems.
i think buy a new one, but haggle heaps, get your full asap and re finance.

Yeah cheers guys for all the comments. I do like the ZXR250s, If I can find one thats nice enough I'd proberly hang on to it. Are parts still easily found for say a 1995 model or are CBR250 parts more redily available.
Id have to say tho i sat on an 08 ninja the other day and did very much like the whold package, bar the view in the mirrors

How about you spend fuck all on a bike, or don't buy one at all for now. Keep driving your car or whatever you're doing at the moment, save your pennies for now, then buy a $10000 1000cc sport bike a bit later! I'd rather spend say $10000 on an '01 GSXR/R1 etc than $5000-6000 on an '89-'96 250! Your choice! Or buy Miss.L.'s GPX!
