A dozen or so bikes at the pond tonight. We headed for the sunny Kapiti coast. We had a good blat over the Paekak hill and then down to Paraparaumu to a venue we hadnt tried before but would like to recommend:

'Gordy's Bar' at the back of the Cobb and Co, just off SH1, access thru the Coastlands carpark. Great little bar, good covered deck and bike parking etc. Good barfood too. Turns out Gordy is a biker (has a Triumph) and he made us very welcome with a discount on drinks and some plates of chips 'on the house'. Would like to put a plug in for this venue for future rides.
Experience......something you get just after you needed it

Great to meet a few new faces tonight ! Nice little jaunt over the paekok and back (god i love that road)
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

Ah! I'm glad I'm not the only one that gets there 'just too late'!
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker

Ahh The memories, I was one of those bikes behind you (along with wasp and phoenix if my memory serves). I think I may have to make my presence felt again on the tcwnr. Its a fun ride and great socially.

So this week it coincides with guy fawkes with which there are the usual wellington waterfront fireworks, maybe we could go somewhere with a view of them when they go off? just a thought

    road closures

    Hi guys

Let you know there are road closures in wellington tonight:

Major traffic restrictions tomorrow as Sky Show lights up the Capital
Wellington’s skies will come alive tomorrow night for Guy Fawkes as the Sky Show lights up the Capital. Fireworks maestro Robert McDermott is set to wow Wellingtonians with a stunning pyrotechnics display. The Sky Show is very popular and up to 100,000 spectators are expected from throughout the region. Major traffic restrictions will be in place on the night to avoid the gridlock of previous years. Traffic controls will be introduced on Oriental Parade and on Mt Victoria summit. Oriental Parade will be reduced to one lane and one direction – eastbound away from the CBD – for the evening. A one-way traffic flow will be in place on the roads around the Mt Victoria Lookout. There will also be parking restrictions around the Lookout area and on Alexandra Road.

Have a great time .. I will be in the office doing my release .. oh and looking out over the harbour during the fireworks if I am still here.
