Ignore these guys telling you to take it off, do not fucking take that L plate off... if you go through random inspection/pulled over again that's 400 bucks just like that. I've seen a fair few stories about this lark and the bastards do check it- if it's a young fucker trying to make a name for himself in the ranks he'll do you for anything mate.

Instead use some initiative and do something like fold the L plate behind your number plate, that way if you do ever get stopped you can flip it down quickly as he's getting out of his car, or alternatively you can bullshit about how your brother used the bike and you forgot to fold it back down again etc etc etc. Even a young fuck could likely show some sympathy for such a story? Worth a try incase you can't get the plate down quick anyhow.

Ladies, if a man says he will fix something, he will fix it. You don't need to keep reminding him every 6 months

Silly plod. OK , he's made a mistake. Quite a significant one . Not just the usual "He spelled my name wrong" stuff.

He's recorded the speed limit as 70kph. With you doing 112. Which is where he gets his 50 demerits from.

But, he is quite wrong. The speed limit does not change for a learner. It remains at 100kph (I'm assuming here that it was indeed a 100kph area since you mention keeping up with traffic and him saying 'they can do 100').

The 70kph is a condition of your licence. Not a speed limit. And the demerits for it are only 25.

Now that's a significant error. Possibly enough to get the ticket quashed in total. I'm not familiar enough with the procedure to advise what you need to do, but someone here will know. You either write in right away and contest it, or wait until it's too late for them to change it. Then write and say "But the speed limit at location - blah- is 100kph not 70. "

First thing I'd do though is get 3 montsh rego on the bike ASAP. Tonight if you can (LTSA website, you can do it on line). Grovel, sincerely regret unintentional oversight, been under stress, pregnant, pet hamster dies etc etc. Rectified immediatly the office pointed it out to me.

At worst , you can only lose 25 demerits. Not 50. IANAL, but.

Not quite sure. Never had to do it myself. But one of the more clued up members will advise in a while. Basically you just write in and say that you accept the rego thing , but rectified it immediately, and can you please be let off. As for the speeding, you want to point out that the officer made a mistake, and thought the speed limit was 70kph, but the limit at the place where this happened is actually 100.

That doesn't really get you off, firstly because you were still breaking your licence condition which is what the charge is, and secondly he's got you down as 112 which is speeding anyway. But, an error like that , looks bad and often they will drop the ticket rather than have egg on their face. But, there's a trick about WHEN you write this, and I'm not sure what it is.

Listen to Ixion, this is BS ticket and will never stand. I was stopped once doing 124 on my L, had a long talk to the cop and he explained to me everything. (I was kinda scared he can take my license). Speeding offenses are independent of your license conditions. He could book you for 12 over and not following license conditions. Only the points from the largest offense will apply (25 for license conditions).
Dispute the ticket, you will very likely get off.
Oh and the cop took my ticket down as 119km/h and ignored the L plate.

These are the reasons he stopped you. I know it blows, but if you want to do 100k you need to be totally squeaky clean in all other respects, then they look at you and think "nah hes alright" and they leave ya alone. But L platers doing well over 100k and weaving about, or any other even slightly suspect activity will definitely set his alarm bells off.

Yeah it stinks though. Glad you are still laughing about it.

I know it blows getting a ticket even if its been "jacked up" a bit but at least you still get to ride. My first formal arrangement with the revenue dept was a court date for dangerous driving. Six months suspenion and associated costs etc. It was a hard way to learn a life lesson about muffti cops and over zealous wrist twisting down a suburban street.

Where the fucking hell do you live? Try north shore, they are all shit bags here...

But seriously don't take the L plate off, just jimmy it to fold in and out behind your number plate. If you really insist on taking it off at least carry it with you at all times... well if 400 bucks means anything to you, there's some shit you can say if you at least have it on you.
