And get off the grass.. that gixxer flew past you, then the rider had the thought... "ive never been on this road, maybe this is a little silly" and so didn't continue to accelerate - at which point the little old hornet slowly gained on her - bet you were ringing the tits off her though!!!
And then on the second straight, don't blame the gixxer... blame the bloody cars coming in the opposite direction!

Yes... im very defensive of my wee gixxer!
I was just a bit slow off the mark at the start, once you dropped back in front of me i was stickin with ya fairly well. My poor little deary wanted to stretch her legs just that liiiiiiiiittttttle bit more... not enough to pass ya, but enough that i had to ease off to stay behind ya. Still had revs to burn tho (and yes, i'm very defensive of my wee Hornet )
i had rolled off on the second bit too, i'd had my fun, and i wasnt sure how effective my brakes would be from that sort of clip (VERY, as i found out when i gave them a squeeze to see )

Works well indeed. The other trick if you ride to work in the rain is to stick your gloves on the top of a CRT monitor... just MAKE SURE they've stopped dripping first! (and no i didnt do it, a workmate did once tho... BOOM! )

Yeah the hornet brakes are quite effective at pulling you down from speed.
    Not that i'd know myself...

Mine are actually kinda soft now might be time for some new pads, brake fluid or braided brake lines

i was thinking the same myself, till i tried the ol' trick...
next time you're gonna leave her parked up for a few days, whack a cable tie round the throttle and brake lever, so it holds the brake lever in fairly firmly. Leaving the brake fluid under pressure for a while helps all them little micro-bubbles in the system come out of solution, group together, and float out of the system... or so the theory goes... all i know for sure is it made a world of difference to my baby!

If you want to go for a spin tonight, give me a yell. It looks like I've been stood up, so I'll be riding by my lonesome from around 10pm onwards.

Yeah i'd heard it before, then GIJoe mentioned it, so figured oh yeah, i'll give it a go i guess, not expecting much. Got on her after 4 days sittin on the brakes, WOAH! man she was much better, and consistent over a ride too (i had had problems with varying response across a period of time). Probably gonna fully drain and replace the fluid soon tho just to be sure.

Drop me a line if your going to so I can come along and do it too, might inquire at CT how much a braided line would cost for the front. my lines are probably the stock ones from 1996 for all i know

most likely... hence why i was thinkin of going braided before i did that little trick. Mate of mine reckoned he could hook me up with a braided line for the hornetto for 60 bucks from a wrecker mate, could inquire if you are interested... dunno how much i'd trust him tho...

Will probably do it spur of the moment one afternoon this week, will see how i go tho.

This week is real crap for me lol, got Exams nearly everyday of the week

If i was going to get lines i'd get new (WOF legal) ones and get them fitted proper. i likes having functioning brakes

Well, good ride tonight! I got home after riding with PirateJafa around the Whitford-Maraetai loop so he could ride onto Kaiaua!

The meet up was good, HungusMaximus turned up first to drop off some library books! Anyhow after the usual gabfest about .. bikes! We rode off and did a short version of the wet ride from yesterday!

So bikes aplenty made their way up No Tree Hill and Mt Eden once again! Mad sheep, intimidated dogs and slow cagers was the order of the day. Saw rie on the way to Mission Bay, was wondering if she was going to do a U-ey - but I think we left her after going through the lights to Remmers.

Quick blat to the St Heliers GP and down to BK mission bay for a feed and some sundaes! Usual bollock talking and everyone that needed to scarper did so then!

So a good night had by all, urban mayhem riding was the order of the day and good company, stories and the usual bike pr0n fest.

Spotcha for the next ride out!
