I'll be going through the general vicinity of Matamata on Saturday morning - apparently the road that hugs the ranges + goes through Te Aroha is nicer than SH27 (which goes through Matamata), so I was thinking of going that way.
I'll be leaving Rotorua about 6.45, so should be in the vicinity of Matamata about an hour later.
I'm giving myself a fairly generous travelling time, because the bike is small and slow, and it would be nice to have the time to stop for a coffee along the way.
The road to hell is paved...

I haven't kept track of who needs coke, but me and the captain (morgan) will use 1.5 litres please.

Really looking forward to this ride Cary, seeing how you ride that Duc on the gravel is going to be a highlight!!.

    Thanks for the organising

    Mike

Yup, it is - just look out a bit if the weather is damp: 1. the sun is shaded by the Kaimais through there first thing in the morning; 2. there are some parts that have lichen on the tarseal; 3. plenty of cowshitty crossings after milking. A good route nonetheless.

    Cheers

Ok i won't. I'm bringing 6 bottles as reserve but how about we drink yours first as the $5 bottles i got could be nasty (think they're from the Hawkes Bay!)
