    Arrow Stolen bikes!

Yet another stolen bike thread I am afraid, but with a twist.

Almost everyday I log on here to read about some poor bastard that has had his bike stolen, if not him, then a friend of his/hers, or his kids. What the hell is happening here?

Are people really that stupid that they leave their bikes in an unsecure place? Do they not use alarms, do they not use chains and locks? Have they not read how many bikes get stolen and how easy it is to steal them and not take extra precautions?

Or are the drug addicts/gang prospects or what have you getting that smart they can simply take what they want, when they want. No amount of security cameras/locks etc seem to make a difference.

My house got burgled a few years ago while I was home in bed asleep! Gave me the shits in a big way, I increased my security, and still give the fingers out the windows at night to any would be scum that wants to come take my stuff as I dead lock the house.

So people, are these victims of crime being slack with security, or are the crooks getting smarter (unlikely IMO), or the opportunities we present to the thieves to good to be overlooked?

I always locked my Hyosung, Disc lock and steering lock, and had an alarm put on it.

In hindsight, I would have been netter off if it was stolen!

The Triumph will have an alarm as well, plus the locks. I'd electrify if if I could to stop anyone from touching it.

    What would you suggest?

My bike is alarmed, where its stored is alarmed, The bike is bolted to the floor, It has a padlock locking the steering as well as the built in steering lock,I have steel bars across the door, The door has multiple padlocks and special hinges.

You can't see in, Nothing can be seen from the street.

Sure, I'm going to stop any half-arsed attempt, but with the right tools it could be stolen in a few minutes.

Depends, do you get naked and sit on it?

Though I don't consider it weird until you start making sound effects.

    secure your bike

I was the victim of bike theft many years ago, although my current bike is equipped with the honda HISS system and of course fully insured I still chain it to the floor and never have it sitting outside the home for the passing scum to take note of it, now there is limited protection if its parked in the street but even a simple disc lock is better than nothing.Perhaps a bit of baiting bike thieves is in order!

Now, now you could have left in unlocked, on the street with the keys in it too, bet the bastards would have walked on by

So you are saying, lock it well, or lose it?

Get it insured. If they want it badly they will take it!

Have insurance and disc lock and shortly will have a camera installed in the garage,so if some shitbag does get in I will have his/her mug on my computer.

Sucks we have to go through all of this ,just to stop mother-fuckers stealing something that does`nt belong to them in the 1st place. Rant over

We dont all have a house to lock in garage, yes a bit more in open in my apartment block, but i enjoy to ride, and just because i cant secure it as much as others , it wont stop me. I had alarm and remote fuel injection disable, wheel lock, camera in area...but it didnt stop em...they still managed to ride off, so guess they know wot they r doing. Maybe if i could get it in the elevator to my room i would. But i did have insurance so mostly covered,

Y'r going to start lecturing me about taking the keys out when its parked aren't you. Hey, I'm still getting used to the idea that bikes HAVE keys.

So you feel your ride is safe? Is it where you live maybe?

Where do they sell them though. See there has to be a market for stolen bikes, not all can be taken for the hell of it. There must be people out there that buy them!

This brings up the matter of bike insurance, which I really should blardy get. Not so much insurance for my bike, more or less what it gets stolen into
I keep hearing this guy that ssorts out the best deals for you, and is basically looked up to as the best insurer around these here parts?

Unless I am mistaken. In which case, forgive and correct me.
Some people just can't seem to comprehend that they do not have the right to be unoffended in their lives.

Tim at John Baker or Dave from Kiwibike.

Make 'em fight off against each other for the best quote. They love it.
