One engine out of the many sold.
Suzuki would love to have such a clean slate. (besides, no one really knows what happened. Wait for the facts on the failure, if they ever are told).

Pedigree, it's about pedigree. Jap and Euro bikes have it. Chinese don't. If they want to move into the market they have to stop this gray importing business and offer 60 month warranties like Hyundai (Korean) tries to do. And maybe when China grow up economically and move on out of their industrial revolution and start thinking about customer loyalty then they may start thinking about building quality from their prior mistakes and shortcuts. But history does repeat, there was a time when we used to say jap crap but now if we can we sort out jap made items and steer clear of chinese made. Well that will change eventually but not while I ride a bike. chinese bikes SUCK

Dude, do some research. It's a Korean company that started making motorcycles for SUZUKI over twenty years ago.
The pedigree argument does not wash.
Think and say what ever you like, but at least do some research.
(like the fact that their 650cc engine is more powerfull than Suzuki's own SV650, that the Hyosung engineers helped to design in the first place).

pedantics. pedantics. I write concisely. Let me rephrase for you.. korea/chinese fall under the same shadow, they cut corners. Hyundai manufactured the ford cortina mk3 and shock horror, they kept breaking, gosh I wonder why? Because they built them 30 years ago does that mean they build quality product now? Hyundai cars (obselete mitsubishi designed motors) keep breaking, it's the little things, mainly the plastics, because they cut corners, they add too much filler in their plastics...and their metals...oh yeah and their food products too!
So what if the motor has more power, they're not balanced, they don't last long, they may look dinky but they break down... consistently. Chinese/Korean products are crap. It's in their mentality, they have no design sense, no aesthetics, they knock off other peoples designs and then cut corners. Chinese designed bikes may look good because they knock off euro design but they're built crap. But they will mature and get better. They need to regulate their industry in order to get quality and consistency.

and those Suzuki GN 250's are a piece of manufacturing excellence. Oh, thats right they are chinese, as a large proportion of Triumphs models are Thai manufactured, and the only bikes truly made in the good ol USA are Honda Gold Wings.
Forget the localised image for each brand. They all have failings, and all have very good points. Comparing Korean principles in manufacturing, (or anything) with China is Apples to Oranges. I hear you loud n clear on Chinese gear, as their business principle is not really geared towards sustained customer growth, but Korean principles are more enlightened.

I'm not fazed either way really, but others who are obviously pushing a personal agenda against both TM and Hyosung are simply twisting the truth. That's just not honest or right. (not you, but the thread starter).

I hear what you say and normally I am an agreeable chappy but I have owned a Korean 2001 Hyundai Sonata 2.7 GLX which is the top of the line korean sedan for 16 months and since then I have made 5 warranty claims and I can only say thank christ I took out a 3rd party warranty package. Every problem listed in online pro/cons forums for that model has unfortunately happened to the car. It has cost over $4000 in claims. It is a lemon and I wouldn't wish one on a friend. The Samsung was considered the budget Sanyo and only due to huge marketing efforts people think it is an acceptable brand. Perhaps Korean product is a notch better than Chinese but not as good as dare I say, East German.

At the end of the day I would rather buy a 20 yr old japanese bike than a brand new chinese/korean bike. Even for the kids (XR100's)

    Gay but reliable.

    I want one.
Trials tyre on the rear and a knobblie on the front and take it on the Dusty Butt.

No, the old ones were ghey but reliable. The new made-in-Thailand ones are dismal, lots of unnecessary irritating failures. Fortunately they are cheap enough to buy new with a much-needed warranty, but you'd best flog it off after that, and get used to it being in the shop often for repair.

They are not your typical jap reliable as an axe jobs.
    Cheers,
    Colin
