I got breath tested 4 times yesterday.

    Three times before 1pm.

Every time I had to stop, take off my gloves, helmet, breathe, put everything back on.

At one point a numpty cager decided to toot his horn telling me to hurry up. Stupid driver must have forgotten he was surrounded by 6 cops who all glared at him.

Umm...why'd you have to remove your helmet, gloves, etc? They normally just poke it through the visor bit (ooer).

And they are only going to increase in frequency with the silly season upon us! Good on them, I say! I hope they lock up every last one of them...

Chip on yer shoulder sonny? I've had some run-ins with arsehole cops and the occasional pleasant experience with good cops but bleating about a copper chasing you after doing a U-turn in front of a checkpoint on a motorcycle forum is pretty stupid.

Im all for shits n giggles too, I recon find something else to suffice.

While you drag a copper off the job to chase you for a laugh, you may potentially stop them from preventing drivers three times over the limit, indefinately disqualified or repeat offender from smashing into innocent road users and killing them.
Dont forget these checkpoints and personal responsibility are the only barriers we have to protect us.
    Let them do their job.

So they chase him down, even though hes done NOTHING ILLEGAL.
right in ya face when you dont need em.

... but on the other side of the coin....
A woman rings her ex-hubby and makes a covert threat shes gonna do him in in the next day or two. He rings the cops coz hes shitting himself knowing full well that shes well capable of it coz shes held a knife up to his throat in the past. The cop on the other end of the phone says..."sorry mate, we cant go and arrest her..she hasnt done anything illegal and you have no proof she threatened to kill you. She then drives past his place a few times and rings his phone repeatedly. Same answer.."Sorry mate, shes done nothing illegal"
Next day the police are investigating a homicide.
...never there when you need em.

So on one hand the police are powerless to act, but on the other, they are all over the bike guy's ass because he looked suspicious doing the u-turn.

Bullshit to both scenarios.... Bullshit to the rider being a dick in the first place and bullshit that there is nothing that can be done in the other. Suggest your mate tells ya the full story. Mental Health Act for starters, misuse of a phone for another... then again, you're probably still shit stirring and I took the bait maybe...?

Weren't there some KBers who died up that way recently?

Stats on motorbike fatalities are rising. Look at the sad threads on here for starters, and that is just KBers.... The rest of the country doesn't live in the KB world of immortality.

That'll be the exact same driveway I, and every other copper in the country, would also come up after you.... just to check, of course....

You gotta watch those jolly japes - what starts out a bit of silly fun can turn real nasty real quick if you strike the wrong person
Yep nothing smart about being a smart arse with a cop. Sticking up for your rights is another issue but being clever with it is not.

so you and your cronies should go away and think about that, he put innocent childrens lives in danger because he thought(assumed) I was over the legal limit of alcomohol per blood unit.
Assumption is the mother of all ?????????? what??????????
Im over it now, cheers for listenin to my rant.
No you acted suspiciously and the cop acted on that. It is you who put children in danger as a result or your stupidity.

Not the ones they're claiming. Like, 50% of ALL motorcycle crashes in the country occur in the Coromandel. Bullshit. Real figure is about 1.5% . According to MoT.

Same stat show the, per 10000 bikes , the crash rate is going DOWN. Sure, more bikes on the road, more crashes. But, per bike, it's improving

    2007 4.5%
    2006 5.1%
    2005 5.6%

I've been through checkpoints twice on the bike. Both times I've been waived through as I was pulling over for them.

I figure a cop who's been around could probably tell if you were pissed from your slow speed handling skills (or lack of).

Fair enough. 50% of all crashes are in the Coromandel? Unlikely, even though there are a hell of a lot.

Dunno where you get your figures from, but there have been a hell of a lot of fatal bike crashes in the papers - more than usual - lately. Coinciding with the sharp rise in petrol costs perhaps?
