Whilst not wanting to but in on your interest in going back to Red Rocks, just want to let you know the following in case its of interest:-
Tomorrow(Tuesday 23/12) Ben and I are going up to the private land at the end of the road up to the Welly wind turbine from Brooklyn if you or anyone else would like to join us! The more the merrier!
I don't know the name of the place yet as it will be my first ride up there(sorry!) but it's the one that charges you $20 access fee; am sure you guys know the place I mean!
Should be at the access gate for about 10.30/45 ish. Could meet any interested parties at the Caltex on Happy Valley Road just south of the main crossroads/traffic lights in Brooklyn at that time.
Plan is to ride our butts off and be done prior to the commuter traffic leaving Welly.
If for some reason we can't get on the land then we'll head to Red Rocks as an alternate plan I reckon.
Cheers, Dave
Just heard Ben's out with crook guts, so in absence of any other responses, wind turbine ride is cancelled for this morning!
Cheers, Dave

On the Makiro ride the other week, just after all those nice people
helped me extract the GS from the ditch.
I fell off again, only this time I managed to smack my shin quite hard on probably the foot peg or engine armour.
Anyway the usual hole in the shin and subsequent bruising expectedly occurred
but after a week hadn't gone away.
In fact it started swelling, moving down my leg and going numb,
with side orders of flashing pain
So MagicFairy suggested I go to the Doc, who said infection, take pills, avoid movement.
Turns out shin infections are quite nasty, due to the poor blood supply in that area and I have to be careful.
So no rides for me
Now im stuck on the couch, with my leg up (and on fire).
And the annoying thing?
The annoying thing is that I had a perfectly good set of shin guards that MagicFairy had just adjusted for me
and I didn't put them on![]()

No, the annoying thing is Ill have to be nice to him for days, running back and forth getting food, drinks, laptops and entertainment.
And walk the dog, do the Xmas grocery shopping and all the other bollocks that Christmas brings by myself.
All because "I don't want to wear my new shin guards, that you adjusted for me, on this ride...in case they rub, it is a big days ride"![]()
I had a work accident some years ago that required reconstructive surgery to my left heel and learning to walk again. Was out for over 6 months with ops, lying around with my foot higher than my heart etc.
Infection in the ankle area very bad if not dealt with properly, i had some worrying times for a while. I guess the shin area is the same for the same reasons.
Take care, keep it clean and do what the doctor man says.

sorry to hear of your pain Jim - and the inconvenience Magic Fairy.
Here's hoping you're all healed up and good to go for the DB Jim - cheers Aslan
