How many km out of rear tyre of SV1000?

6000kms is about right for the factory pilot sport rear.

Approaching 11 000km on the SV650S...original Dunlops are still OK but will die in the next soonish period... Initially it seemed that the front would go out before the rear. But in the second 5000km it seems to have reversed. The rear will go out in the middle first I think. Perhaps I have changed riding style in the second 5k km...it is my first bike in 20 years...maybe I was braver to start with and have faded into old age and decrepitude...prolly did that years ago...or maybe I crank it more now...or more likely still, gremlins have got into the tyres and are eating them...bastards

1000 to 2000km for rear tyre, thats expensive, Thats worse than a Busa, I thought that they were hungry, say you do average 8000 km per year you would replace your tyres 4 times pa, farkkkk. thats about $1,600 in rears per year.

12k out of conti road attacts twice now on the rear, I'm sure I could halve that if I was half my age.

I got 12K out of the last set of Conti Road Attacks I had on the SV. That included daily comuting, a many spirited rides, and a south island tour.

Depends on a huge variety of factors - bike type, how you ride, condition of the road etc.

I get about 8-12kms out of a rear depending on the type of tyre, and about 8,000 out of a front. With a sport tyre I'm lucky to get 5,000 out of a front. The RF is really hard on front tyres.

do you use your front brake a lot? I find the rf uses tyres just like everything else (rear first). It seems to wear out tyres fairly quickly, I believe because of the weight of it.

I was getting 3500 or therabouts from a rear (down to the canvas)- double it for the front, I was running diablo corsas most of the time, tried the regular touring diablo but was just looser with no better milage

I don't think so. I have extremely hard front suspension, with quite high tyre pressures. I find if I run too low (mid 30's) I tend to create a really triangulated wear on the tyre. Running a bit higher (40) gives me a more rounded profile.

My daily commute is from Upper Hutt, over Haywards, Grays Rd (or Paremata Rd) through to Tawa, so a lot of corners.

I'm just hard on the bike I think.

As for the weight, they're not that heavy at 200kgs dry. Probably 235 wet. There's a lot of weight over the front end though. Which is why they're a prick to wheelie off the throttle.

Amazing what one little (short as) burn out does to a tyre
The conti road i had on the back has done Sweet FA and i just put a conti sport on the front a 1000 k or so ago to match it ,so will go sport on the back now to match that and see how that lasts (no more burnouts though) going to be doing more track ks than road now so meh who can tell ! Stickier the better i say !
Loving the metzler racetecs k1 and k2 i got on the 955 now!! They inspire confedence they do lol !

Wow That is quite high pressures. You obviously like it that way, I will keep an eye on my front tyre wear and how it go's because ive got to admit that although i dont wear out front tyres quicker than the back tyre, i cant get that many k's out of them.
