How about a section for deaths/ biker accidents on police releases etc.

And to see the section you must join that sub forum, if you don't want to see the threads you don't join...

    simple?

Doesn't sound like a bad idea to me, just from scanning the threads that have mentioned this it would appear that the majority aren't fans of rider down posts but there is a large enough body of opposing opinion not to be ignored.
Having the requirement to join the sub forum to read posts would be an excellent solution imho

Wouldn't you think that if it was a KB Member who was killed, that his family if they wanted to, would put something on KB letting those who knew that rider what has happened without someone who doesnt know the rider involved starting up a thread about it?. Its only fair that the family of the deceased find out 1st before those of us who dont even know the rider killed.

i really cant believe this!!for those that dont know, allendale road is a very residential street about 1km long and has about 5 speed humps along it,i cant believe someone has died along this very small stetch of road, but it only has to take the right hit to the right part of the body or head to do this....
just to put into perspective for out of aucklanders the area we are talking about..
and another thing about these rip threads, this is the internet!!other forums exist and have a much harsher scope to incidents like these,so dont think the thread author is being morbid cause theres always someone else on another forum debating it,so just cause its a bikers forum doesnt mean to say family or friends of the victim ever go here and read these,kb isnt an exclusive biker place ffs..its the net and get used to it

Actually no its KB, this site is about look at me, give me rep, Soap boxing, and lots of ego pampering, thats is why we have such a huge load of crap threads (some of which are a laugh I agree)
Interesting that sportsbike.co.nz as well as many other sites that im aware of have never (that im immediately aware of) had a RIP thread, why? because its members have different agendas to the above they are bikers with some maturity, and maturity is something sadly lacking in a percentage of this community.

Not that I care to much it is what it is and will stay that way im sure.

But Mark its not necessarily your place to post the info, especially names.

chrislost is extremely pissed off with you for revealing his name in his crash thread, we all knew about it, but you felt you had to earn a medal by revealing a name?

So let me see if i have this right ...

    - So KB's the problem?, this site is about look at me, give me rep, Soap boxing, and lots of ego pampering, thats is why we have such a huge load of crap threads ...

but with no ego involved, no soap boxing and no give me rep at all you go on to let us know how wonderful YOUR SITE IS, how your members have maturity.... apparently maturity is something sadly lacking in a percentage of this community.

I'm curious "what the heck is maturity and how do you tell it's in a post?" Don't answer that, it's rhetorical. It seems to me in the general forum you get general chit chat and in the racing/technical threads you get "mature" conversation.

    .....

Actually, I like KB, it's got a great community, almost family feel to it. Sure every family has it's Uncle Fred, the one that gets drunk at Christmas and makes an ass of himself. The one you don't want to invite to the wedding but know you have to. But that's what a community or family is about.

It seems that the issue of rider down threads has two camps and the best thing you can do is let them run and either have those that don't want to see them exercise some control or do what the other guys above suggested.

I have a lot of friends riding and when I hear of a rider down on stuff for example I know it will be sometime before the story is updated so I call across here. This site does a great job of being a site for bikers.

    ...

Maybe at least there should be a different category instead of it popping up in general. A general sub category for example.
