All this is making me wish so hard that I wasn't still running my new piston in...
Nothing like that ring a ding ding to start your day.

yeh, its a bit funny. My mate bought a gpx around the same time as I got the rg, and he's already bored of it. The RG still makes me smile.
I dunno about this 'and you will die' business
But yes two strokes are rather exciting...
RG150s do a circuit at Manfield (3.03km) in 1:28. These bikes are no different to what you would ride on the road, other than everything is adjusted just right.
Admittedly, those speeds are not sustainable on the road...
My son had a Spada that was electronically clocked at 172, regardless of what the speedo said. Cam chains should be done at 50k intervals, if you don't want to risk lunching your engine.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
Have you riden one? When an RG (which have very inaccurate speedo's) is reading 180 they are probably in the region of 155-160kph. However, if you have enough road, a little tailwind, and a lot of time on your hands they will creep above a genuine 150kph to an eventual 180kph.
How does their speed compare to bigger bikes? Acceleration is what is about. Mine could out-accelerate easily CBR250s in head-to-heads, although at 140kph their acceleration really begins to drop of drastically. Up to 100kph they can do OK, but on the tight twistys well ridden Ixion is correct in that they can really hold their own. I posted recently that on Lone Kauri rd where I used to take mine for a spin it was much faster than my current GSX600FJ.
Where Ixion is wrong is that RGs have THREE modes - off, under 8000rpm and WTF. A "powervalve" opens at 8000rpm and then they really go nuts - something for your friends to really be aware of.
Having said that it seems as though there is no confirmation its an RG - are you even sure its a 2-stroke (or is it just small and he's assumed that)? If its the 4-stroke RGV disregard all you have read here - it'll be like riding a RG with a flat tyre. I know - I tried one.

Yeah all the little blighters down here zip round ruapuna at silly speeds on them. Great first step to racing, and a real blast on the twisties for sure. I've seen Oyster get on one of his many and give the clubmans stragglers a hurry up, he normally gets ~midpack against a lot faster straight line bikes.
After getting off my 750, its like getting onto a pushbike. Incredibly easy to toss into corners at speeds I wouldn't dare on the 750 since i'm a big wuss.
Also since i've got the 750 i've not felt *too* bad about riding the RG like i've stolen it, just like it should be. It certainly has power from 9 - 12k/rpm i'll tell you that.
Also with softish forks and that snappy powerband, a first time rider (or returning after ages off) will think he's on fire the first time aroundSpeedos are off by at least 15k/hr closer to 20 IMO. Sure does a 0 to 100 indicated quick tho!
Oyster is the person to get hold of if he wants to know things about them, and service advice etc. First advice is get an external temp gauge on it since the OEM is rubbish. Also *always* get him to run it on proper synthetic oil like TTS not cheapo lawnmower stuff unless he wants a big bill quick smart.
If it's the RGV150 2-stroke, its a completely different bike. Spoked wheels, drum at the back, smaller front disc no fairing aircooled engine making heaps less power.

yes, on the road, and a geared down version with tt900's on the track, i think on both i would have been lucky to be doing 160, but i cant confirm this.
yes my buddy who raced one clocked 1.29, and if someone rides quick like that on the road then they deserve a gold medal for bravery and a reserved bed in hospital..
my spada will be taking a back seat to a new bike asap, at which point it will be a project.. it WILL do over 200![]()
RG150's = Awesome little bikes.
Its relatively easy too keep up with any big bike ridden by a average rider over the taka's. Even easier over piecock.
Ive shown many big bikes up, without really pushing that hard.
I raced one for a year and have showed loads of big bikes up but not more so at taupo, even the long track. Had a awesome battle with a 748R once. Identical each lap. I would go around the outside going on the front straight, he would overtake me down the front straight, i would go around the outside in turn one, don't see him till the back straight, then overtake him around the outside coming onto the front straight. Happened the whole session. Did about 1:57's on the long track at taupo. And they do sub 30's at manfield just, but are limited by there top speed with the straights and all.
Awesome bikes, watch out for one if your on a bigger bike in the twisties. Don't follow em in to the corners if a confident rider is on one.
Sorry FXR is 4-stroke, RGV is 2-stroke (but being a smartass you put oil into all bikes - just depends where ... I put mine in the radiator too ... )
Having accepted my error there I stand by the comment -= I've ridden both the FXR and RGV and they both feel super-sluggish after the RG. But the FXR is even worse.
