Absolutely love that colour.
And a few more.
Awesome mate.
Seen it many times when I've been in there over the last year.
Neat colour too.
Very very hawt! Do you have knobs to protect the sides if it tips over?
Dam that's a nice bike.
One of these is on my short list for my next bike.
Please drop us an update of your impressions of it when you have a few miles up.![]()
That blue is really nice! Wonder why they droped it as a colour???
Congrats on the bike! Took a street triple r for a go this week.... What an engine!
Hope you took it for a ride before taking pics and posting on KB? If you didn't.. You got that in the wrong order!![]()
Looks great! Did you ride it down from Napier? If so how did it go?
No, didn't ride it down from Napier. Took it home on a trailer. But after riding it around a bit I am wondering why I didn't ride it home. Damn these things are easy to ride (at a slowish pace mind you, taking it very easy).
The Wainuiomata Coast Road is just a hop, skip and jump away from home and is a brilliant piece of road to take this bike for a spin on. This bike is so easy to go around corners on. Couldn't believe the difference to my little Scorpio. Where the Scorpio wallows and gets upset by mid-corner bumps, this bike just tracks true and feels solid and confidence inspiring.
The other differences which immediately became obvious is how hard the suspension is but also how smooth the engine is.
I'll check the suspension today and see what the settings are, may soften it up a little bit to start with, can stiffen it up and return it to its current settings later if needed when I start running it a little harder and faster.
Compared to a single cylinder, three cylinders just run so smooth. There is no vibration, unlike the Scorpio. Need to run the engine in which means nothing over 5000rpm for the first 500km so haven't gone much past 100km/hr yet which equals around 5000rpm in 6th gear. Which also means I have absolutely no idea yet how grunty this bike really is. What I do know is that just a little blip on the throttle was all that was needed yesterday to dispose very quickly of two cars which were holding me up on the Coast Road. Incredible. That just doesn't happen on a little commuter 250.
The owner of Procycles was telling me this bike was sent by Triumph for the Big Boys Toys expo. Don't know if that is true. Does anyone remember seeing it there? As such it has those carbon fibre engine covers, which I haven't seen on any other Daytona yet. They are just tacky little bolt-ons but may serve well to protect the clutch if I should ever have a spill.
I have thought about crash knobs etc. but haven't made my mind up yet. Opinions seem to vary as to whether they are worth the money. The stories of people where crash knobs have cracked the frame or punched a hole in the cylinder head are almost enough to put me off. I'll give it some more thought, do some more homework and then decide.
Get some crash bungs on, stat!
