I only had 3rd party on mine. Insurance company's will usually write off a bike if cost to repair is 75% or more of insured sum.
Surely you can get the fairings repaired with fibreglass, do it yourself (or beg someone else to do it) or take to a panelbeater. Hey, if you get stuck, give me a PM and i'll do it for you.
I had a lot of fun rebuilding my ZZR, do you have somewhere to do it?
    And some tools?
only been in the country a month (flew over, travelled VERY light) and still not been paid, so no tools as yet. However, friendly KBers have offered space and tools (and some all-important guidance- I will be learning as I go here) sO I'm taking them up on it.

Will be getting third party next time, this has been ridiculous.

ducatilover- muchas gracias, if you've got some stuff you don't mind swapping for beer that's in decent nick that'd be ace!

YB16- thanks for the offer, but I'm getting fucked over this hard enough already.

    Easy

Some wonderful people on here have offered to help out with the renovation project, so labour will be about $100 in beer and meat. Sexual favours not included, sorry Skidmark. I'm also figuring RB will charge for their assessment and general tyre-kicking duties.

The main issue is one of cosmetics. Everyone is saying streetfighter the bitch, so I'm going to need new clocks, headlight, mirrors and indicators. Substructure is buggered on the right side where she impacted, so that's going to have to be stripped out. How big a job is this realistically?
Are the clocks etc actually broken? Sure you want to go streetfighter, they dont look that pretty without plastics (imho)
If clocks are munted from crash: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-202263656.htm
    Fairings can be repaired...

The suspension needs to be adjusted too, so that this NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN. I'm not impressed with RB's assertion that "Ah, they're all that soft mate", but still, that's going to be another job but not vital.

RB also assert that the forks are bent, but if it's so subtle they can't tell without operating on her I'm going to assume that this too is a medium-term issue.
$320 on trademe for a new set, there are probably others out there...

My work are giving me an emergency loan of $2k, so this can get seen to post-haste. Obviously, if the decision is to fix her back up rather than write her off then it's easier to have the garage do it, but I'm buggered if I'm going to let them write her off!
You can do it... i drink tui

No cover at all? May you be more careful on the road than you are on a keyboard.

I'm not sure what your point about the road not being a racetrack is? Apart from being a statement of the obvious of course..

Should really have taken pics of the damage, but I assumed it would be less of an ordeal than it's turned into and it wasn't necessary! Clocks are OK, but the substructure on the right hand side is, as we say in my hometown, "panned the fuck in". This has caused the fairing to wrench to one side, and there's a cocking great big fissure across the headlight panel. The right panel is not looking so hot either. TBH I'm more of a looks before personality kinda gal, so if she'll run and not cause children to burst into tears in the street then I can live with it...

    Cheers for the linky

All you should need to do to get the bike back is advise Barons that you would like to collect it and pay them any reasonable costs. Then go pick it up, you will never hear from the insurer again. They will be over the moon that they got your premium for free and didn't have to pay out a claim - after all not paying claims is how they make money.

The forks are all soft in that model. It is a well known problem (borderline criminal I would have said) - just not to noobs is all. Are yours worse than normal? I would guess so personally.

Bent forks? How? You cushioned the fall and it low sided into a clay ditch. My experience is that all repairers say the forks are bent. Giving them the benefit of the doubt they are trying to cover their arse, however, personally I think it's an excuse to extract more money from the insurance company. I will be very surprised of the forks are bent. Second hand front shocks are going for around $150.00 on tardme, so even if they are bent it doesn't really change the economics. Plus, you could research what other front end would fit and perhaps use that instead if it really is bent.

They were definitely twisted, but i couldnt see any actual bendage in the two minute look over i gave it. Action was still smooth, just the wheel tracking at a bit of an angle was all. A straighten out would most likely do the trick.

Headlight itself is munted or just the surrounding fairing?

Do you remember if you busted any levers or footpegs

surrounding fairing, light itself is OK.

I rode it back to safety from the crash site and didn't notice any issues re: pegs or levers. I think the only time it was horizontal was when it landed on me...

So, er, yeah. Said as a throwaway comment, based on last night's suggestion that you wanted a fuck.
