Gotta say that the NiN gig was much better than I expected, and all I had to do was put a bike on a trailer, drop it off at a mates place and then talk shit while we took the fairings off. Sounds like a good days work to me!

That one is good, but the one that describes me as being similar to a 1970's CB400 is very sweet...

You don't remember drunkenly agreeing to pay for all parts and labour, and that you were going to buy me a puppy? I knew I should have got that in writing...

Oh dear. I knew I should have chaperoned you guys. You go out, get pissed and make silly decisions. Who knows what other irrational inappropriate decisions you 2 made whilst tipsy.

If you go naked, all we need to get is a headlight. You can have the bike this weekend. The other shit can still be sorted whilst you are riding around over the next couple of weeks then swapped back in a day (or less). Or is R6_Kid somehow super motivated?

I meant we'd made the decision to put a fairing on her in the near future, and get her back on the road ASAP. I know R6 said he was going to look at headlights today, because he is of the awesome.

Firstly... Mine was a ZXR but neither here or there I guess

My opinion is to get your pay out and buy another bike. Sure you loose $1600+/- but believe me its barely worth the effort. Plus you must consider that the street fighter scene in NZ is still small and way under appreciated, for the amount of time, effort and money put into them. You will have issues when you come to on-sell it. They are an acquired taste and most people assume street fighter means its been crashed (and for the most part are correct).

If the bike is legally written off (by the insurance) you will need an engineers certificate before you can have it re-certified and rego'd. That is about $250-ish. Then compliance and rego fee's after that. If your forks are bent it will fail the engineers cert. If the rear subframe, swingarm or frame are bent even by 2 degrees it will fail. They are really anal about that (and so they should be... your life is in their hands).

If you are going to get the forks checked out you will possibly need new fork seals and dust seals, which as far as I'm aware are not available aftermarket for the ZZR's... so OEM parts only. Plus new fork oil... then labour (or mates rates = beers).

If you are removing the front/top fairing you will need to do a lot of research into mirror mounts because of the angel of the clip-ons. I couldn't find anything to work on the ZXR clip-ons so I ended up getting risers, drilling through the top triple clamp and installing dirt fat bars to the ZXR. If you then install dirt bars/risers you may need to have all your cables re-made as they will be too short, or at the very least your brake lines... but braided lines are always a better option, so no loss there!

You can get plenty of aftermarket headlights (most come with mounts), check out http://www.nzstreetfighters.com/ for heaps of options. Or you could go with something simple like Acerbis Diamond etc. If you need new instruments I'd suggest Koso (sold by nzstreetfighters) as they are the easiest to install, the less cutting of your original wiring loom the better!

I could go on forever... took me nearly a year from the date of stripping the bike to its finishing... hit me up if you need any advice or whatever... or you could pop into Mt Eden Motorcycles and see me...

Took us two days and about $170 to have a headlight mounted with indicators, only thing we forgot about was the mirror mounts but that has been sorted.

Fairings are now repaired (plastic welded) for a the measly cost of $112.50 - and considering all the little pieces I gave to the guy, the price, and the finish are bloody outstanding. Just needs prepping for paint now, which will be done with some hard work over a few bourbons. Then its just a matter of deciding what to do about the painting.

Suspension is still proving to be difficult at best, it's much better, but still by no means as good as it should be. We have a couple of ideas that could work - which will also be pondered over a few bourbons tomorrow.

    She riiiiiiiiiiiiiides!!!!

Well, she's back. After weeks of sleepless nights, pleading, porridge (damn you kiwifruit) and despondently staring at GN250's on tardme, the Kwaka's back.

R6 Kid and the stranger, I really cannot thank you boys enough. The suspension is radically improved, she looks pretty good and for the first time since the bin I'm reasonably confident I'll get some money back off her when I sell her. She feels really different without the fairing- dare I say better?

Have attached pics of how she looks, and also one of me licking some nut meat. Enjoy!
