    Maungatapu track condition?

    Hello Nelson Boyz...

A couple of friends are heading south today, they are keen to do the Maungatapu but Nic is a bit of an Adv-n00b & they were wondering what sort of condition the track is in at present?

    Cheers

Track is hard and fast , well hard anyways . Just look out for sharp rocks and nasty little holes and enjoy.

There is a nasty hole about a metre deep on the Nelson side about 1/3rd of the way down. Right in the middle of the track, but bloody hard to see until you're virtually on top of it.
I just managed to avoid it last week, otherwise I'd have swan dived all the way to Maitai!

    If you see a black/red 640 & a blue/white DR650 around down there give em a wave.

North to South is the nice flowing direction.
It's just a bit shaley on the bit past the bridge on the Nelson side otherwise the occasional hole on the Nelson side and scattered rocks over most of the track.

Cheers for the offer, it's not me but a couple of friends, they're probably through by now. Rosie & I are sailing over tomorrow but are heading straight for the Horizons Unlimited meeting in Chch then catching up with them & going on down to Otago for the week.

    Cheers
    Clint
