You should be OK. My first trip up there was in the depths of winter, on my Funduro with road tyres. A video of that auspicious day is here. It will be pretty greasy, be prepared to fall over at low speed, and get very wet and muddy (Bring warm clothes). Should be kick-ass fun!!

Don't worry Phoenix - we wont make you try out the puddles before the rest of us get there While gravel at speed on a motorbike is different from seal or riding a MTB I'm sure you will get the hang of it. Your most welcome to come along but bring some good wet weather gear and some poly pro, change of socks etc. If you do off in a puddle it is a long wet ride home.

I started this at lunchtime and had to run to a meeting. I see that Skinny has already mentioned the cloths thing.

Oww heck, the man on TV just said it was like 25 deg C in Christchurch today.
It sure wasn't like that up at the lakes.
The big bonus was slippery stuff is fun on the CRF. And there was no dust.

Well that was an interesting ride with the rain and all. I felt a bit like I had a cannon at a sword fight. I'm knackered today from hauling Tenzing around. I'll post pictures tonight.

Hope you enjoyed yourself phoenixgtr. From an adventure ride perspecive that was near the trail ride end of the spectrium. The gravel road stuff is closer to what we "normally" ride. Certaily different to road riding aye You did well for a first time out.

lol, my partner went in there with the one we got from Ryan a couple of years ago. She enjoyed it.
If we had plenty of spare cash and room in the garage we'd have been interested in yours too. We miss that we bike.
But alas, to many regos is bad and so is the money hole involving my current motor rebuild on the DR650.

Right photo's time. You can see that things start of nice and sunny and then get slowly wetter and wetter. There is quite a good apple tree near the place where TA and SB left the van (see above the KTM 525) There is something unique in the 5th photo - a third S10. Yes there was three S10's on this ride! Last photo - TA looking happy and dry (see next post...)

I would if you did not share your lunch and try to force your bubble bar thing down my throat, as it appears in the photo birdman.

Next time I go up there I think a dirtbike might be the order of the day. Might be able to get a bit further.
Good ride though, throughly enjoyed getting out again, cheers guys
