Reminds me... I need to do the same.

The tube was H/D. The spare one is also H/D. But it was a really big nail, straight in. The spare tube has a nick in it (but not a hole) from travelling with me too often, so I'll pass on that too, and buy some new ones tomorrow.

    Steve.

yip got a filter on the line in, thought i beter do a few kms the day before iron out the bugs.....

sort of feels like im back on my big road bike, with the big tank up front,

Sounds like I've got everyone nicely confused.

Yeah. The Mobil is easy to find, and I'll be topping up with gas because I've only got a little one.

If we miss gas at Apiti, I might just have enough range to get to Taihape. Gotta get a bigger tank. My thing's a thirsty little focker.

I kind of like the jet fighter idea. You can hang a hose out the back, and I'll fill up on the move.

Have you thought about putting on stronger front shocks to handle all that extra weight up front.

Hi Joe - I plan on giving the bimmer an outing - fitted a new TKC80 rear specially for Takapari Rd

For anyone else like me whimping out on Makairo - I'm happy to do some alternate gravel roads and or go straight to Waihi falls - cheers Aslan

I'll be whimping out every time! This will be the first gravel road ride for a long time where i haven't had a pair of TKC's on. Gonna have to remember that when it comes to a fast down hill off camber corners..........

I have standard rubber on the back so will be careful where I go on those roads (I do not know them at all).

Although if I have the panniers on maybe I can clear the underbrush each side for you!!

Make sure you wrap the rum well

if you got off your bum a bit earlier you could meet Cary and I at the Horsemans Cafe in Shannon for breakfast/coffee at 8.30/8.40

the Makiro track will scratch the crap out of your spotless (excluding sheep bouncing marks) paintwork so I suspect it would be a no go for the 990
