    One for the good guys...

    Good shit....

Shaun Gauge (21) of Levin has been convicted, banned from driving for a year and made to pay $8,000 reparations for seriously injuring a Kapiti motorcyclist (Whom I know well) on the Paekak road....

Little bastard had stolen some fuel earlier.... I hope the victim gets the $$ but it's bound to be on drip feed and won't cover the $$ he's lost by not being able to work - still, it's a start.....

Judging by the character, he'll be paying out $10 a week for years. It's a disgusting minimum that they settled with anyway.
He obviously doesn't give two shits, either. Stole fuel, AND knocked down a motorist? I think a couple more years on his feet as opposed to the one.
Ah well, what can ya do...
Some people just can't seem to comprehend that they do not have the right to be unoffended in their lives.

    This sucks.... hear me out.
Some little prick has changed someone life forever and all he gets is a slap on the hand?
Banned from driving and a fine, big deal, sorry but that's nothing in my eyes!
    He's changed someone life.

Your friend more than likely has lost tens of thousands in lost earnings, he may suffer from the damage for the rest of his life and he may have to pay for some treatment / meds later on in life as an indirect result of this, yet this idiot almost gets away with it!.
    Makes me sick!

Drunk driver collected me, he got almost the same via a slap on the hand (with a wet bus ticket) too. His fine's paid, his time is done and I gotta live with the damage he created for the rest of my life, something really sucks about all this, it's not right!

One of our family friends got hit when a drunk driver failed to stop on the way back from the Harley nationals this year. Weds about 5 in evening. He was coming back through the west coast, my dad behind him. Was struck as dude failed to stop and rolled out to T the road. Our friend is lucky to be alive. Broke every rib and is still in all kinds of trouble. When the cops arrived they said to dad the dude that hit him has a list of drunk driving arrest.......grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrrrrrrr

This is something we have to get tougher on. Jail time! Glad someone got the job right and stoped one more idiot out there on our roads.

    Grrrrrrrr

Another slap with a wet bus ticket

When are the judiciary going to get the message that hitting someone with a vehicle is just the same as GBH and should carry the same penalty (starts at 5 years)

    Angry.....

Victim reparations should be paid immediately by the government then taken from the offender with a commercial lending rate and penalties for non-payment. The current situation just further victimises the victims.
If it wasn't for a concise set of rules, we might have to resort to common sense!

The Law has to change for the better especially towards the victim. There are far too many dead beats out there who seem to think that they can do whatever to whom ever and get away with getting a fine and a slap on the hand. Where is the Justice in that.
A life for a Life would be the punishment for those who kill innocent people thru their stupidity.
Why is it that when someone holds up a bank without hurting anyone physically they get thrown into jail and yet someone who injures an innocent human being leaving them to live the rest of the life in pain gets a fine which they cant afford to pay and a slap of the hand. The Law Sucks and doesn't make any sense.

The ACC system we have in this country despite its advantages ...has a major failing.

"no personal responsibility" ie. someone else will pay for your action/fuck up.

Current govt is looking at the cost of ACC but not in the right direction.
The law is not in synch with this.

I have been advocating this since 2003, when my car was set on fire.
    Prick was caught ordered reparation.
6 years later I am still waiting to get the full amount, I have received drip feed bullshit amounts from as little as $5.63(1 months payment) to $64(1 years payment).
The court system is a freaking joke.
Don't ever get fine coz they will become lawnmowers and your ass is grass, but be a victim of crime and you will wait forever for your money.

I was gonna post that. Bling to you.

When someone owes the Government (IRD etc.) the Government knows how to go after them.

When someone owes someone else, the Government is just a bystander.

So make the debt of the offender a debt to the crown.
Measure once, cut twice. Practice makes perfect.

Yeah, the IRD will take 20% of your earnings if you owe them any money.
Doesn't seem right, should be more responsibility for your actions.
And taking their license just means they will drive around with no license, get fined, and add it to their tab. Should be repossessing assets to pay fines, damages. Give the victim the money up front, so they can get on with rebuilding their life.

Get the fuck out of here.
Does our current court system not scream out 'Deal to him as you see fit, because we can't beat him to an inch of his life ourselves.'?

As good as this country is... It's just not cutting it where it matters...
Some people just can't seem to comprehend that they do not have the right to be unoffended in their lives.
