I took a set of sv650 givi pannier racks and got my shop to chop them and custom fit them to my supermoto.

Depends what you want, I find lockable waterproof givi cases fantastic, so all you really need is the plate (or tubular bars) with correct knobs, and the fitting is just subject to each bike...

Ah, mine are permanent, don't need to take them off, even though they aren't used too often. They also serve as good tie down points.

As someone has already said, they can also serve as good crash bars, instead of your expensive cans/tail piece etc.

i would think a bar behind a soft bag would help prevent it swinging iinto the wheel, and htereby stabilize the whole shootin match

Steel Pony Luggage Australia... check them out

Dirtbagz make some real good brackets that can be purchased with or without panniers... I recommend them after doing thousands of k's off road with them. They come for lots of different model dirt/adventure bikes and are made in the USA.

Also check out my mates new pannier business, he is making top quality heavy duty pannier bags that are built to last and torture tested as he regularly drops his bike hahah Seriously though they are top quality and his website is : www.steelpony.com.au they come in different sizes and models for different bikes/purposes and have some unique features! Tell Pete and Loyla that Rhino sent ya and they will look after you!

Joe did you see the racks on the KLR? I use oxford soft panniers and they fit the racks well - they are also great for bungying things (like jackets) on.

would be easy(ish) to make your own

** have a look at this for ideas

get a plastic fab shop to make you a black 3mm poly prop u bracket (depends where the exhaust is mounted) , and have it so it bungys on to the rear seat ,sit your softies over that,
that way the inside is protected from the dirt ,wheels , etc,

plastic fabricator/welder here if you need a hand ! will work for beer/bourbon/booze

come ride the southern roads www.southernrider.co.nz

Seek and yee shall find my home made soft pannier bars for my old DR650. Worked well except I had to add an extra tab to the bar on the RHS at the back to stop the plastic being pushed onto the can. No more issues after that.

    Cheers R

These were the coolest ones I have made. I used Ortleib cycle panniers. They now make motorcycle ones in either throw over or using there clip on mounts. Sorry , photos not that great when zoomed in that close

    yes your right,
im thinking of a small frame, same size as back off bags, with eather plastic backing or alloy,, with a joining section between the frames,, whole set up will slide on top off back guard, behind the seat, and under pack rack.
think i need to add a couple pics.. of what i got.
or draw a pic of what im thinking.

It is a good idea to keep the weight as far forward as possible i.e. under you. The location of the bags on the DR mad absolutely no difference to the handling.
