Yeah, it's definitely the list price value.

But factoring in replacement cost, the cost of sanity lost, the emotional value, etc. makes it priceless. Or at least $3500.

    ........

Dont suppose any of you have some VFR bits laying around?
Im after a swingarm of a VFR750, wanting to do a swingarm conversion on my CBR, Have it on good authority the VFR750 swing arm slots in with very little modification to the shock mount. Also want the rear wheel, disc and caliper. If anyone has these bits and can bear to part with them PM me

I've got a NC30 swingarm which is now spare but I think you're right you need the VFR750 one, if only to get a 17 inch rear wheel. Ive seen a CBR900RR which has had the conversion done: it looks factory.

Oh, and you guys will appreciate this, if only for the WTF? factor: an old kwaka triple with grafted on NC30 (?) swingarm. check out the front end too: proper bit of kit. hopefully the frame is extensively braced....

    great colour too.

Coyote got some flash ones but I think they didn't work out so well - it certainly didn't seem like it last time we had a gayhug.

TYGA performance. They turned out to be warped. There's several variables that could be the reason for it. The original disks were warped so the front wheel and brake calipers could be the problem instead. But I choose to blame the shipping company.

TYGA are excellent people to deal with and I'd say they're worth a shot despite my troubles. I emailed them about my dilemma and they said they'd ship over two brand new disks, free of charge. I thought this was incredibly generous, so much so I didn't want to abuse their generosity. I still believed my bike could be the problem. In the end I agreed to getting one disk, which I've yet to put on (being the muppet I am).

They are reasonably flash to begin with. The machined part is a nice bright gold, and the disk has a cool eletrocoat over it. However, they're are cheaper for a reason. Leave them overnight in the rain and they do rust. Not too big a problem as the rust strips away under breaking. Plus the disks where the pads don't touch eventually gets a bit dark and tired looking. Plus the gold on one of the disks has faded, whereas the other hasn't.

I've yet to look into getting the disks skimmed. It should solve the problem at a cost of loosing some of their meat. From now on I'll fabricate my own disks and rivet them onto the original mounting.

I gather that Steve Bridge at F1 Engineering also does the same: original carriers, new discs and buttons

I love Tyga kit too, but now the dollar has tanked its become very expensive.

Not necessarily a sign of cheapness: softer disks (witnessed by the rusting) usually offer superior braking performance than shiny stainless steel ones.

One of my front disks rusts more'n the other. They're the same size, but one has a gold anodised carrier, the other (rusty one) is silver, and the hole patterns differ. If I knew what/where/why, I could replace one so they match. The short-term solution is removal and spraying of the carriers with gold paint so they at least look at a glance to be indentical.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

I was lucky enough to get the pair for around $420, shipping included. Half the price of the FGB disks in NZ.

I've yet to check how pricey they must be now.

Haha, excellent! I can claim they're "hi-po" now.

Is carrier the word for it then? I was trying to figure out a proper description when I was typing my last post.

Is that how you bought the bike?

I think so, but I'm happy to be corrected.

Yes, with mismatched front disks (the right one of which was corroded and pulsed badly), a bent right footpeg and brake lever, and some missing bolts.
I asked that these issues be addressed, but the dealer basically did next to nothing about them, apart from replacing two of the missing bolts. They looked at the brake, said it was "within spec" and with a bit of use and a set of new pads, it eventually came right.
The bent footpeg I straightened myself (bracket was bent, presumably in the same 'incident' that necessitated the disk being replaced, and the mismatched paint applied to the fairing), but I subsequently bent it again, so I replaced both footpeg brackets with some that were sent from Canadia via a slow boat from China. Took about 4 months surface mail!

So buying from a dealer isn't so great? I've been thinking I'd rather spend the extra few grand to get a dealer bike for "peace of mind" but if you don't get that much support, I'd rather save the money for repairs.

My disks I thought would wear into place but the problem has only seem to have got worse. Ten times as bad. Course I brake more aggressively now I'm a more confident rider, and I'm more trusting of my SportAttack up front which is part of it, but even under gentle braking it's worse.

they don't make enough money to want to care.

that said the smaller guys have a (good) reputation that they can't afford lose - pirate jafa can give you AJ's number. he knows his vfrs and is very active in ensuring you're happy with the service.

    Alright, private sale it is.

I'll ask him about it. I can now afford to treat the VFR right. Still hope to get a new road machine, which will mean the VFR can sit in the garage being tinkered with.
