RIP the Summit Cafe. Greater Wellington has lost part of it's modern heriatge IMHO.

The caravan will come, the toilets will go. Not such a bad result really.

Poor Harry, He'll have to work to replace the loss of revenue.

apparently (according to the mayor of Featherston) the fire was started by a scottish motorcyclist that has mental issues.

According to an article in the local paper food at the summit started in World War 1 when the good ladies of Featherston made sandwiches and a cup of tea for troops marching from the Featherston camp (on the first straight towards Greytown) to Trentham.

Oooooo dear! I'd only gone there once and found it highly average. A coffee caravan would be a great idea I reckon. There will still be loos there cos they were separate anyway.

The loos may be in a seperate building .. but they don't seem to work without a generator ... which is why outside has become a urinal and is quite disgusting ... might be wrong .. about the generator but I thought they were powered ... also the pipes underground aren't meant to be fair cop.

Eeeewwwww! I didn't know that. I actually can't recall ever using them (maybe I blocked it our of my mind!), I usually (even with my nana bladder) try to use cafe loos cos they're are normally pretty clean.

You're not wrong. It's the pumps that require electrickery.

Not only is there no mains power or gas, but no town sewerage system either. All that bad coffee & dodgy food over the years has been directly funding the poos & wees of the many, in more than just the usual fashion.

The loos are going too. Their upkeep was supposed to be a condition of the cafe's lease arrangements with the Regional Council, which never happened. Electricity was provided by a generator at the cafe, as there are no utility services at the summit.
