    thats a big negative

I checked this out and its a nightmare - gotta be a proper club with a couple of million in public liability insurance with a nominated person taken in for "pre training" and bond has to be posted - its a freaking joke.

of course we could just disassemble the fence by the gate like some - ahem - "other people" did.

Nahh.......we've got to have a go at getting up it. You don't get a prize for being the first one DOWN a hill climb.

I might just sneak down there one day and have a look see.

Its great that you've got access - I talked to the guy who runs the 4wd club that is responsible for the track last time we all went in there (when it pissed down on us)

I want to go up that damn hill - that's the challenge

    the ultimate adventure bike challenge

would any of you ladies be interested in having a go at cnut hill around 9th/10th May?. If you can get to the top its an awesome track out to the coast and it would be good to have a gate key in case we don't wont to go back down cnut.

Dave - we might ban you from riding up the hill - we don't want to find out how many pieces a DR can be broken into

We could sell tickets for people to watch

c'mon, deep down, you know you really want to try.

    CNUT Hill Challenge

Is this a cunning plan to reduce the numbers for the South Island trip to a more manageable level by means of breaking a few bikes and bodies a fortnight ahead of time?

I am certainly interested in having a "look". I may not be keen to try once I have had a look but I am always in for a challenge! If I had more time (to get sprockets in from UK) I would gear the Pampera down even more for this.

    How are you feeling today?

I can't lift my left arm above my shoulder. Hope you aren't in agony.

Left side neck and upper back in middle and right still really sore & stiff; goin to docs this arvo for check on it - I think its all muscular but better safe than sorry, and yes ACC may be an issue so will be going!

BIG BIG thx to Howie for allowing me to use his garage yesterday afternoon - we worked on the bike for 3 1/2 - 4hr and got it pretty ship shape one way or another! Just gotta sort new rear indicators, some plastic film to go over the headlight(or new headlight LOL!) and sort wheel balancing out on front(hope thats what it is as we release some lateral torque off the forks already!) The bars are actually in almost dead straight condition, it was the riser main bolt that was VERY FOOKED! Straightened it but needs replacing asap with a new one before any knocks - my guess it was a tad bent from Odlins crash and that was the weak point so it went rather than the bars, which is fine but its gotta get replaced now as def a major weak point! Ally backing plate on reg plate, headlight assembly all straighted so lookin pretty good but also lookin WELL used HAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Thx also to Joe & Eddie for ther offers to help with repairs and to all of you for your encouragement and support after such a major off! I truly feel bloody lucky to be sittin here without a broken neck and BIG lesson learned; I might like to push myself to improve BUT gotta know when to back off too and take the sensible course of action! ALSO I gotta get some cash together for proper body armour for our offroad days if I'm gonna keep pushing myself!

Took it easy last nite but have had quick look at photos - as always thx to everyone who played photographer - so kind of you guys to give us all a record of a wicked day out!

And YES definitely keen to go back - always happy to call the landowner for us to return!
    Cheers, Dave

I'm being a grumpy old prick here but make sure you did learn your lesson. I woke up today with a very uncomfortable neck (little better now) courtesy of a broken neck from my little crash back on the 6th April 07 (Good Friday back then). Remember that surviving to tell the tale is only one part of the story - living with it for the rest of your life is another story. Thankfully I only get occasional reminders because it would suck if every morning was like this morning.

My wife now pillions most places with me - not sure if she truely likes being a pillion or wants to keep an eye on me

    Cheers R

Hey Dave - that's a great endorsement for your bars. What model are they?
