Apparently they have only three or four days rain a year, and seldom of the intensity they had this morning. The odds were on their side...

The races probably won't be moving anywhere soon because of the huge bucks places like Malaysia, China, and Qatar, fork out to get a slice of the action. And it is all about money.

I was rather startled to find out how banged up the riders were. First race of the season one might expect everyone to be fit and ready to go. Not so!

Main point of interest to me relates to the tyres:
Do the guys who used Bridgestones last year have an advantage over the guys who were using Michelin?
I read Edwards' comment that there was a knack to using the Bridgestones, but I've also read that Rossi's bike was extensively modified after he switched. So are the other Yamahas already similarly modified?
Have the other factories figured all this out?

We might find out tomorrow - if it doesn't rain.

The high point of the morning for me was seeing that Rossi hasn't changed his helmet design. I had thought the Monster sponsorship may have meant Drudi had to come up with a new creation, but no. The "Five Continents" design is still current...

    That link suggests Taupo
man you have got to be having a laugh.
Taupo isnt big enough to fit just the 125cc teams in.
the track is way to small, facilities are non exhistant by international standards
and no way could it be considered safe for motogp with the tiny amounts of run off it has.
I've seen MGP at a few european tracks and even the small ones make taupo look
    like a gokart track.
even with financial backing it would take millions to develop the place to anything like an acceptable standard.
does anyone think the govt are gonna stick their hands in their pockets to keep
    a group of bikers happy?

The money thing is true ut china no lomger has a race and the American rounds were put in at the request of the team/manufactureres
in an attempt to create publicity and drum up sales

Ducati, Kawaski, suzuki and honda have all run bridgestones at some point.
Your right though there is a difference thats why Pedrobot made the switch half way through last season.
He had nothing to gain last year as he didnt have a great season but they wanted to be fully upto speed on
the new tyres before this season started.
I think the main mod to rossis bike was the position and length of the swingarm, i'm pretty sure its common knowledge amongst the teams
    what needed to be done.

I never said it was a good idea, or that it could actually work. I just posted a link that shows it is, or was, a possibility that motogp would come to young little NZ

Pedrosa did an AWESOME job stayin on that bike after being hit on the side and of all sides it had to happen on was the side of his injured knee which i would say would now be more injured.
I wonder whether or not they will go ahead with scrutneering of the incident as they had small print going across the screen saying that it was going to be under scrutineering, and I haven't heard as yet whether they are going to go ahead with it.
Anyone heard anything as yet about whats going on?
I was wrapt to see Stoner win it but then I am bias when it comes to anyone racing a Ducati.

That sort of thing is par for the course in 125 & 250's.

I wonder what you'd have to do to actually get sanctioned?

Stoner rode a good race, dominated from the front and made the most of the
first lap battles that held up rossi.
Not saying rossi would have won if he'd got a better start but he paid a heavy
price for getting involved with lorenzo early on and then having to pass capirossi.
Nice to see melandri out there fighting again before he overshot turn one
and i was really pleased to see dovi putting in a good show.
I really think he will kick pedrossas arse this year, well upto the point where alberto puig starts whinging to honda and they then only supply
    new parts to dani.

I've just sat and watched it. What a boring race..

In fact, it wasn't a race. It was just a fast bike ride for those at the front. I can't remember the last time stonergimp overtook anyone. Must have been a while ago now. It's not racing, it's boring. Might as well watch car 'racing'. Or stand on a bridge on the motorway and watch the procession of traffic.
