What is there thats similar in Welly to ride?
I only know of Red Rocks for flat and open-ish and Long Gully which I havent been to yet - this weekend I plan to head up there and have a look!

we do and it's free! It's just north of Foxton along the foxton straights. It's a big pine forrest that runs alng the beach between the seaside townships of Himatangi and Tangimoana. I was up there yesterday with a mate, my brother and 2 nephewsone of them's on a CRF150 aged 13 and he gets through allright... just gotta get it into his head to pin it through soft sand and not to back off at the top of sand dunes! lol

the thing is... it's illegal for us to ride up the beach and the cops do moniter it so you gotta be in the know! nah just gotta go in at the Tangimoana entrance and not piss off the locals... they are entirely fine with us using their forrest just not their roads or beaches for wheelie practice

I'd be happy to take you girls up there... anytime... and in return you can convince my wifey to get back on a bike

The boy and I are dead keen to go and we have a bunch that I think would come along with us.
One of the guys my boy works with and his wife, his brother as well as another couple of mates that all ride together.

Exciting!!! Now if only I dont embarrass the pants off myself LOL

Shit i never thought i'd ever get a group of KBers to go for a ride in Wellington and it turns out that only girls are organised enough lol. Make it not this coming sunday but the one after? meet up in say shell mana and drive up in convoy. What vehicles doing carrying who then. I'd say my van'll be full but i can work out some mates vehicles if your stuck CRFchick (i Know charmie has a ride) So lemme know

I can do the weekend of the 25th-26th April or the weekend of the 9th-10th May but the 2nd is the boy's weekend on at work so we cant go anywhere =(
I also dont have a babysitter that weekend as it's Grandad's birthday and they are heading out of town =(
Any chance of making it either of those weekends?

And in actual fact, I am very keen to go for a ride on Wednesday afternoon, round 1pm if anyone is up to join me?
I kind of need someone to come along if there are any volunteers as I have a babysitter organised, but have been given the hard word that I'm not allowed to go out on my own

Yeah the 26th April was the Sunday i was talkin about but now that i've looked at my shifts for that week lets make it the Saturday (25th)???
I work weds but can do thurs of fri next week. Could have done yesterday (wed) if we'd got onto it quicker. With Long Gully this time of year (April-September) the auto gates up to the turbine close at 5pm whereas october-march they close at 8pm. Keep that in mind cos it cuts your riding time right down and ya don't wanna be harassing the farmer to let you out

Oh and should we move our ramblings to your Wellington thread Charmie?

Hell yeah!! That would be AWESOME and how cool would it be driving up in convoy?!! I'm sweet with any of those dates that charmie mentioned - 26April as you suggested Kezz sounds pretty good to me. And will you convince your wife to come along too??
