Cheers Steve and Joe - as Dave aka Paladin has posted - we're certainly fortunate to have the camaraderie / mateship that this ADV riding engenders.

Whew - Dave - read your account of the post off trauma - you were a lucky man! Reminds me of our mortality - as I've been heard to say on the last attempt I did of the 42nd with Eddie B et al - this stuff is 'vital' - ie you really know you're alive pushing the envelope eh?

    Carpe Diem!

    Carpe Diem indeed!

Am gonna try temper my attitude just slightly altho not in my nature to not push the outside of the envelope, just gonna try & be a tad more careful shall we say!

This stuff IS vital to me - its so good for my soul so to speak - out seeing NZ u dont see from a car with great mates and fun social time, building lasting friendships - all good stuff! Most important adv riding just makes you feel ALIVE doesn't it! Nice way to let off steam too from work, kids whatever.

Have everything crossed bike & me will be ok for the KCR but I will definitely have to head back on the Sunday afternoon.
    Cheers, Dave

That would be an absolute pleasure mate!!! Seems like we haven't ridden together for a VERY long time, mad huh?!

Am gonna rest my neck & back as much as poss. Just gotta sort front wheel wobble, put indicators on and replace weakened riser main bolt & DR is good to go! I'll be skint on the ride but have child care sorted for Fri, Sat + Sun til evening Sun thx to mother - hoorah! Gotta sort that front wheel wobble tho - at 110kph it is BAD!

Should get to pick up new Arai Tour X3 Long Way Blue helmet tomorrow!!!!! It matches the DR - sad aren't I?!!!!!!!!!! Insurance company payout + cash from ex for next weeks child care while she in OZ will pay for it fortunately and I'll have a nice new very safe helmet!

    Cheers, Dave

Is it carbon all the way through? If so, try and avoid sliding down the road in it. I've seen articles about the fine particles of carbon that get ground off cf helmets, bodywork and the like by being ground off against the road surface and being inhaled by the crasher. Potentially like inhaling asbestos fibres, for all the good that does you.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

    cheers,
have been on ph to suzuki to day, to give my thanks.
they told me rest off parts should be here mon morn.

they also said, you one very lucky man.
they reckon if bike had traveled any further at speed, the whole engine would have been mashed patotos....
they going to send me some pics of the damaged parts.

Probable if it happened in a corner. But on a straight, just pull in the clutch...

Would have been horrible to flat spot the new tyres though
