The last WOF tester I saw redline an expensive (cold) engine ended up on the concrete floor with a blood nose. He can do the math on that.

Let me guess. You now don't even start the engine, just automatically fail them , cos they *look* noisy ?

Correct - it's still the subjective test remember.Using the meter is just a way to document and show a customer the noise level is too high.Really,if there is any doubt, the AVI just needs to pass the buck - back to the customer....to change the system or get a cert.

More importantly, where is a good place on the shore to get a WOF?

Probably lose horsepower and not run as well if you fit the drag-pipes.

Yeah, have hear performance could be affected. Have been holding off on putting them on for that reason cos the bike runs real sweet at the moment. Harley shop said they would tune it to the pipes.

Weird comment from them. Is that Rolling Thunder? as there are plenty of HD's with open drag pipes outside there on a Saturday morning.

I bet they take your money to tune a set of Screaming Eagles.

IMO Harleys and drag pipes sound naff. Screaming Eagles or similar pipes with baffles and a reasonable noise level (read legal, as in under 100db) sound sweet.

Nice to hear open pipes if your a bike mechanic, knowing they will be back in 2000kms for a new set of exhaust valves when the lack of back pressure burns them out

No wonder the dealers are keen to sort that out for you

    I'm with you on this.

    Straight pipes = naff.

The WOF guys will have a probelm if you have a 2T Auto scooter and want to get it to 6000rpm as it will be half way down the road and too far for the noise meter to get a correct dB reading
